No, I will never be ready! We'll all have to get up at 6am instead of 7:15, ugh! It is loads of fun trying to get two teens up and out the door so early.
I'm not at all the summer flew by so fast we did have a new baby and did get to go on a short vacation it seems that most days were inside for the later part of July due to heat.I'l have 3 kids going into school 3rd,kindergarten and preschool wow where has the time gone.I'm still sluggish on getting supplies, clothes, shoes for them I just want every moment to count at home but we will do all this in one shot asap BTW we begin the 15th.No i'm not worried on not having time or money to get supplies I just don't want to,but I will soon.Going to school all day I know it is part of growing up and I know i'm ready to get organized again I can't deal with things on a wimb but I let go just for the summer within reason of course

Yes and no. I'm excited for my daughter to start Kindergarten. I think she will enjoy it. However, I have some personal issues/problems with public and private schools. But, I'm walking into this with an open mind and hoping for the best.
I also feel badly for my youngest daughter. She is going to miss her big sister quite a bit.
no=( i want to do more with her. I want to do more day trips to the beach, mountains, playing in the river and so on!!! More grilling by the river and tons more!
I say we vote and postpone school---she's in summer camp and I work full time so it's not about time away, it's about the weather, no homework, and staying up a little later with her for M.
She's starting 1st grade. booooooooooohoooooooo!
Good Lord, no! I squeeze every last drop of summer out!
(especially THIS year, BOTH boys going away to college, be just me and the girl from now on)
I've always loved summer, mourn the end of it every year. But my kids are always good and ready.
Sigh.
:(
Yes, I love having the house to myself during the day now. And no, I am not looking forward to keeping track of FOUR different school schedules, the endless paperwork, the inevitable illnesses and doctor's appointments, the unending teacher and IEP meetings...
We are pretty much all set as far as school supplies. I really like that our district has a dress code.
No, not even close!
Mine don't start until Sep. 5th and 7th ~ so we still have some time.
school starts this Thursday & I mourn the end of my summer with my 16yo. It's been a summer of transition, & I'm enjoying watching him mature into a phenomenal young adult. :)
Flipping it, I also rejoice in the fact that my son is eagerly anticipating returning to school! It's been a full summer, & he's still excited about the start of a new year. I think this has been an awesome summer for us...& I know next year will not be as magical, because he'll probably be working.
Tonight was Open House, & I think my participation is coming to an end. My son handled all meet/greets very well, & I was a bystander. Felt weird! & strangely enough, our school district is providing most of the supplies....which is a relief! Hope yours goes as easy as ours did!
No I am not ready at all.
I am not worried about supplies.. school supplies everything.
not worried about clothes.. they wear shorts for the first month..
But I dont want to send my kids away all day. I will miss them. In michigan we start sept 4.
My boys don't start until Sept 4th, so I still have almost a month with them. For the most part I love having them home. They are funny, play well together, entertain the baby, and are good cuddlers. I love them! But, I am also excited for them to start school because I know that they miss having friends to play with. My second son is going into 1st grade so it's his first year going to school all day and he is thrilled! I am excited for him. I am also excited to have just one child home all day and maybe make some mama friends....my boys don't get along with my friend's kids.
Ask me again in a month...I may be ready to send them off!!
L.
No. I am not ready! We start the 27th. I have all the "stuff", but I have enjoyed this summer so much, I am just not ready for it to end!! It's been so nice to have my little man around, relax our schedule a bit, stay up late when we want. Sigh. It's been great, but I guess all good things must come to an end.
Not quite. But we don't start until September 2nd. We still have a beach trip, a sleep over birthday party for my daughter and a trip to my parent's house for Labor Day. But after all that? Hell yeah, I'll be ready!!
Funny----I have his uniforms and everything on his supply list (including the "optional" or teachers requests) for the school he's beginning this month (have had it all for a month, already packed: backpack is packed with his stuff, a canvas shopping bag is packed with the teachers' stuff)......but since there's a possibility that we will be moving around Christmas time, I went ahead and downloaded the school supply list for the elementary school we're likely to move to and I bought everything on that list last weekend (tax free weekend, plus everything was super cheap compared to the normal middle of the year prices). All that stuff is in a small box, packed and taped up, labeled with that school's name on it, and under my son's desk. I'm sure I'm a bit of a fruitcake with the whole "be prepared" thing, but I'm excited about his first year of school and want everything to go smoothly and happily. To me, being prepared for much leaves us stress free and able to handle any curveballs with ease because there's not too much on my mind or plate at the time, ya know?
That said: emotionally? I don't know. I'm excited....I think this is the beginning of the world opening up to him, he's going to be relying (in babysteps) on what I've been teaching for 5 years, without me around. I know he'll do great. He'll be a little nervous that first day, but he's such a social little guy, independent though, and he's going to be well ahead of the beginning of kindergarten (he reads, writes well, knows his numbers, understands the idea of addition/subtraction, etc). His school has first grade "mentors" to help the little ones along, and they got a grant for a program that is phenomenal and I can't get over how exciting it will be for him. BUT...my wee boy will be going off to school. I don't know how I'll do emotionally with that at first, lol. I'm feeling a big ball of pride, joy, trepidation, sentimentality, etc all mixed together. What that will look like when I get home from dropping him off that first day, I do not know. :) But I'll have fun with my younger son and I'm sure he can keep me busy.
I have mixed feelings this year.
We've had a wonderful summer together, and the boys and I are all sad to see it ending soon, but both of them love school, and are ready to get back in the swing of things. I'm so glad they enjoy school, and I like to hear the excitement in their voices. :)
I teach high school, and last year I was dreading the start of the school year for a number of reasons. This year looks much brighter, so I'm actually looking forward to going back. I'm ready to meet my students, and I love getting into a routine.
I will miss these slow, relaxing summer days, though, and I'll miss spending all of this free time with my guys.
Nope!
I'm completely ticked about it.
Umm, HELL YES! We have had a great summer but the last of the family trips was over a week ago and now it's "I'm bored!" The two girls (10 and 14) get to bickering and it gets old real fast! My husband works from home so it drives him nuts to have them here while he is trying to work. I work outside of the home so no sweat for me other than having to hear hubby complain about it incessantly. I love routine so I prefer when they are in school and we all have a schedule, as crazy as it is sometimes. 2 more weeks for us... let the countdown begin.
Like "ready" get stuff ready ready? No.
Mentally ready? You bet your ASStigmatism! Lol
All good things must come to an end....
My kids are back in school already.
A mixed bag for me. Mostly I am anxious because my oldest is starting Kindergarten at an excellent private school, and I am very nervous about his behavior. I just want him to have a great experience, but after pre-school, he came away with a reputation for being a trouble maker. His new school is 10 miles away from the old one, so hopefully he will have a fresh chance at school, without the label of "the bad boy."
But, I am also excited to see what he is going to learn this year. I would love for him to become a reader, as he LOVES books and I can't seem to read enough to satiate his need for it.
After being in FT pre-K, he had the whole summer off with just a few classes here and there to help keep him in the learning mode. He does need more structure than what a typical lazy summer offers, and I wasn't the best with giving him that structure due to so many other projects going on at home.
I'm also excited to be able to get into my new routine, of dropping him off, then taking my younger kids to the YMCA with me so that I can get to work on dropping baby weight that accumulated over the past 6 years. I am excited to meet new families and teachers, and to become part of the school's community.
We bought his uniform last month, and new shoes and his backpack last week. School supplies are done--his school has a pre-determined package for each grade, and you just pay $50 and they deliver the supplies for the year. Pretty convenient!!
Yes - I really think I appreciate them more when I am not constantly around them. We have school supplies, some starter school clothes, new backpacks and lunchboxes. We just need new shoes for the oldest.
It's a big year for us. DD is starting full day Kindergarten and the youngest is going 3 days per week for 4 hour stretches for 3K. I will get time alone!!!!
we still have another month until school starts here. I was ready for school to start a week after they got out, lol! I love my kids, but they have SO much energy and no where to let it all out. It's been way too hot outside and humid and buggy for them to play outside. We have been doing the $1 movie Tuesdays, crafts, and walking around the mall. My kids get attacked by mosquitos with in minutes of walking out the door even with OFF bug spray on. That stuff just does not work. So, I really can't wait for them to go back to school so I can finally keep the house clean, I can have some time to myself and so they aren't so bored all day long. 4 weeks from today!!
Yes, I'm ready...kids enjoy a break, but seem happier with some structure and the company of their peers.
If you need more time on the supplies, I'm sure the school will accept them whenever you bring them! Ours does!
YES! They start tomorrow! =)
I remember when, for the first time, I didn't want them to go back. That was when I knew for sure that the call to homeschool was for us and I have barely looked back! Most of my friends can't wait until school starts. I have not regretted the time that I have had with my children, even though they make me crazy sometimes! LOL
Thankfully we still have another month before we need to worry about school! They go back September 5th. We still have a couple of camping trips planned and the boys and I are going to YMCA Family Camp at the end of August. I will need to get the supplies together soon.
YES!!! I'm READY to have them go back to school!!! Like the Staples commercial!! It's the most wonderful time of the year!! LOL!!! No, I will miss being able to spend all day with them but I am happy that they are in school as well.
The only thing I'm not READY for is that we have their first day outfit picked out and bought. I typically don't do that until the week before school starts.
All supplies are purchased and at the school already. We use the PTA's school supplies program. So we have it all done the last week of school so our summer's aren't clogged with school supply shopping.
My oldest son is going into middle school and youngest 5th grade...time is flying by!!!!
During the school year have the PTA check into the supply program - it will make your life easier!!
I homeschool so when they start is all up to me. I am looking forward to diving back into books but I'm not looking forward to checking papers. It has been a very short summer for us and I haven't completed all I wanted to get done.
I was ready for them to g back to school when the summer first started! LOL. The only time my house is quiet is when thy are at school! lol. I have extra money and my grocery bill is less. lol.
So ready for summer to be over! We're going on vacation tomorrow, so I'm really excited about that. But I have two, young, active boys, and we've had so many days of 100+ degrees. I'm so tired of saying, "No, you can't go outside. Now go play so I can do dishes."
They will be so much happier when school starts.
