M.M.
I was extremely proud and excited last year when my daughter went off to kindergarten... now I"m happy, excited and proud she's off to 1st grade next week!!
In the last month or so have seen so many posts about Moms being blue about their child is going to Kindergarten.
I admit it. I'm EXCITED! (Is there something wrong with me? LOL)
I can't wait to meet the new teachers and the new kids that he will make friends with. I look forward to the new things he will learn. I'm thrilled that he will be right down the street and that we will no longer shell out tuition $$ every month. I'm breathing a sigh of relief that he will get out at 2:00 instead of 12:00 because often it is so hard to get everything done before I have to pick him up. Anyone else out there looking forward to Kindergarten?
@mindy, thanks for the laugh!

Yes, very excited! I am not sad. My daughter has always been fine in social situations so I'm not worried about her. She's so excited too, and I'm happy for her : )
I am excited! We just finished our first week and it went wonderfully! I think it's going to be a great year!
YES!!!
Even though mine are much older now I was always excited about kindergarten.
Like you said, an exciting new phase, no more writing checks (though you will still be writing several, for all kinds of unexpected things, lol!) but YES, it was a joyful day, I never, ever had the blues :)
Shoot, I'm taking my son (my oldest) to college in about a week and I am honestly SO looking forward to it. Of course I will miss him, but seeing a kid moving successfully to the next level makes ME feel like a success, whoo hoo! Mission accomplished!!!
Good ofr you Abbie! My kids are big now - 12 and 16. I was very excitd for them to start kindy! I've always been happy to see my kids making progress and achieving important milestones in life. I was not sad. I remember orientation for my youngest, and the principal going on and on about not crying in front of your kid and all I could think was, "Please let me wait til the bus drives away before I scream YIPPEE and dance." My oldest will be off to college in two years, and while I know I will miss her, I am so excited for her! I hope that your son will have a wonderful year in kindergarten, it's such a special time :)
I'm not excited about Kindergarten this year, I am excited about college! I was just like you though, so looking forward to the next phase. I knew that when we dropped her off and she waved "bye mom and dad" with a huge smile on her face, we had done our job as parents to prepare her for moving forward.
My son started Kindergarten already.
I was excited.
He was excited.
He is still excited and likes it very much.
He had had Preschool experience, so that TREMENDOUSLY helped him transition. And HE was, indeed ready.
My son has a good teacher and it is a good public school.
I know everyone there, being my daughter is now in 4th grade.
He is enjoying himself.
He had 1 day of homework thus far.
It will get more frequent later.
My four year old has been BEGGING to go back to school since summer school ended. I'm looking forward to having part of my day back and meeting his new teachers.
At least I won't have to hear "MOM...when can I go to 4K????"
Our kindergarden is less than 3 hours each day so I am EXCITED for 1st grade!!!! LOL
YES, and I am excited about school starting for my older one next week!
Cannot wait for mornings when the door clothes behind everyone and I know that they are occupied, learning and I have a minute to breathe!
I am EXCITED!!!! Why...because I am a TEACHER!!!??? I get to see these little darlin's on Tuesday!!! I am truly excited to see my students!
Blessings to all moms!
I am thrilled that my 2nd son is starting kindergarten this year! Not for me so much but for him! I know he is going to love learning and love making new friends. I am so so so excited for him to start and so is he! We don't start school for another month and he is counting down the days. He was beyond happy when we went and bought his school supplies the other day. And he is only going for 1/2 days!

oh, i am RIGHT THERE with you - i'm so excited for school to start, i can barely sleep at night! my kids are 2, 5, and 8 - i've been a full time SAHM since we decided to try to get pg with the 8yo. it's exhausting, don't get me wrong, i wouldn't have it any other way, but they are ALL THREE going to "school" this year! 8yo starts 3rd grade, 5yo is starting K, 2yo will go 2 days a week to the same private preschool that the older two went to. i am excited for routines, schedules, structured mental stimulation for them - and yes, a little bit of a breather for me. my boys LOVE school and are excited about it :)
Yes, yes, yes..we are all excited in our home, for all of the reasons you listed and because I am a teacher, and my son will be starting at my school. I'll get to see him throughout the day! Yes, there will be occasional issues, but overall we can't wait (of course I can wait, because I'm not quite prepared for my teaching piece gotta finish lesson planning and make sure I have all the supplies my students will need, but we're so looking forward to us being together more or less)
I was one of the "blue" ones :-)
That doesn't mean I'm not super excited for DD, though. It's bittersweet, really. She's growing up, which means I need to let her go & let her spread her wings. And spreading her wings is going to be a good thing for her :-)
Yes I am! I am a mom whose kinder age kids are now drinking and driving, but I am also a teacher of kindergarten. It is a very exciting time; to be preparing for the magical arrival of these little people. There is a great responsibility before me and I am opening my heart and my tool bag so I may have the opportunity to deliver gifts as they do the same for me.
It IS a special time. I remember it well. Little did I know, looking back,
all the different levels of learning going on for all of us. Enjoy your well deserved time for MOM! This is an important rite of passage for all of us.

All I can say is "AMEN for Kindergarten!!!"
My youngest starts kindergarten soon. I always loved school so I'm very excited for her to start this next phase in her life! Making new friends, learning new things and being in the same school as her older sister. I think that will be fun for both of them! Yes, the extra time during the day will be nice for me too!!
When my children went out the door to school, I waved good bye and kicked my heels (once the bus was out of sight)!
