Anyone You'd Care to Thank?

So, is there any group of professionals or people out there in particular you would like to thank as a general group?

Today, for me, it's teachers. A heartfelt thanks to all of the teachers who have taken time to help kids and families start this new school year. Today I took my son into his new kindergarten for a little evaluation test; the teacher we worked with greeted us so warmly and really took the time to smile at the children as she spoke. Her encouragement at the end of our time together was the perfect thing to send a parent off with. I'm actually hoping she might end up being my son's teacher. Teachers have so many children to see and work with, so many families which they must communicate with, and I so appreciated the extra little moment she took to connect. Thousands of teachers do this every year, and it often goes unmentioned. We hear a lot about the teachers who are 'trouble' for parents, but not enough about the really good ones.

Thank you, teachers!

Now, for all of you~ who do YOU want to thank? (even spouses/SOs, though not a group, are included--I'm thankful for mine!)

I want to thank the State of California's Freeway Service Patrol.

I got a flat tire last night on the way home from work. I was on the freeway in between two cities - basically in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone. I could not see a call box from where I was. As I sat there, I wondered how long it would be before I could get help. Lo and behold, about 15 minutes later, the Freeway Service Patrol pulled up. I didn't even know about the service. The guy changed my tire and had me on my way within 10 minutes and the service was FREE!

I took the time this morning to send his employers a very nice letter about their service and about this employee in particular. He was great; made me feel very safe; allowed me to use his cell phone to call my hubby and I stayed on the phone with hubby the whole time. I have never felt safer when I was stranded!

THANK YOU FREEWAY SERVICE PATROL!

I just don't know if I should thank my daughter or send her large amounts of alcohol. This is her first year of teaching and she is trying to accept she can't change a thing without the parents. :(

Sweet post, H.! There are so many who I could thank - the list is endless. But I'll throw out there that I'd like to thank some of the folks on this site - you know who you are! Loving and caring mothers and some dads, those who are kind, smart, interesting, and giving. Those who extoll values that I really respect - equality among men and women, races and creeds, differences among how we raise our children, different religions, etc. Those who understand that not everyone is going to be the same.

I could list so much more of why I'd thank these fine folks, but I'll leave it at that. And H., you are one of them!!

I would like to thank (and I actually did earlier today) the parents who have kept my Girl Scout council's F.I.R.S.T. robotics teams going for so many many years. As the numbers of teams have exploded into the thousands (last year our local HS rookie team was given the number 4122), our Girl Scout team number 18 is still going strong! Thanks Moms and Dads!

The waitress I had at Johnny Carinos the other day. She talked the chef into making me a dish that they had taken off the menu because I was looking forward to it and it was my birthday. We made a point to tip her well and tell the manager what a great job she did; however, she deserves so much more.

Librarians! I grew up with no money, a love of reading, and a need for direction as to what to read (my folks didn't know how to direct an early reader). Without librarians...my life would have been(much) less joyful! Librarians are my personal super-heroes!

I have passed this adoration on to my sons who I hope will find as much joy in libraries as I have.

God...of course !

My Dad ! I was obese for 3 years as a child. That 3 yrs felt like 6 years.
I got bullied continually @ school. I was such a total introvert back then. I didn't tell anybody how depressed and hurt I was. I hung out in my room all the time and would write a book about an obese girl. My Dad realized I was down in the dumps---especially when I was at my heaviest. He walked up to me and said, "That's it ! From now on I am going to help you with portion control."
It took months and months, but, I lost the weight in time for middle school.
He was my hero !
