I am planning a family vacation to WDW in Orlando this summer. I would like to stay in a moderate resort and am considering the Carribean Beach Resort. Has anyone stayed at this resort and what are the pros and cons? Anyone have experience with several of the moderate resorts and like one over another? Any advice/tips will be greatly appreciated! My boys will be 5 and 7 at the time. Thanks!

What can I do next?

All the WD resorts are immaculate and the staff is superior. It will be hot-you may want to go to the theme park early-then hit Blizzard Beach or one of the other water parks. We had a wonderful time at Sea World-the shows were amazing. Have fun!

Stayed at Coronado Springs and loved it! Pools were GREAT for the kids and the rooms were wonderful! Loved the layout and architecture too! Planning to stay at a Value Resort this next time......Will suggest that you look into the Disney Dining Plan because it is an AWESOME way to eat and save! Have fun! Enjoy!

I found that the Caribbean Beach is a little more of a walk to the main house (restaurant/shop/check in) but they have the pirate rooms which are supposed to be pretty cool.

ETA- just as a note about the cabins that someone mentioned above- (which I agree are awesome and really nice to have a separate room) while they are considered a moderate resort, they are significantly more expensive than the regular moderate resorts. I believe they are about double the price. If you stay in them, you may also want to consider renting a golf cart (about $60 a day). It's not necessary as you can take the internal Ft wilderness buses, but they are way more convenient than waiting for a bus and you can park them both by the lake (to go to Magic Kingdom) or by the entrance (to take a bus to anywhere else).

I have stayed at the Carribean Beach Resort. I found it to be a beautiful resort and my kids loved the pool over all the other resorts we have stayed at. The down fall was the bus system. Since the resort is so big there are many bus stops. Depending on where you are staying, you will either make several stops before you leave the resort or several stops before you make it to yours when your coming back. If you get a preferred room, you will be close to the building that has your food and consierge and close to the pool. Our favorite moderate resort is Port Orleans Riverside. It is also a beutiful resort with a great pool. If you get a preferred room you will be close to the pool, the park, the laguna and main building. This resort has a boat you can take to Downtown Disney which we love. It also has pole fishing which your boys would love. Good luck and hope you have a great trip.

You got a recommendation about the Movies resort - it's call Disney's All-star Resort: they have All-star Sports, All-star Movies, All-star Music, etc. I have stayed there plenty of times... basic hotel room with outside entrance to the rooms, huge complex, decent, lots of pools and eateries.

We stayed at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness (a moderate resort) and it was GREAT! It was nice because we have a two year old who still took naps and goes to bed before we do so because we had a separate bedroom we didn't have to go to bed when he did. It is the pricier of the moderate resorts, however it has a full kitchen, dining area, and living room. We ate breakfast in the room and did the dining plan for the rest, but the dining plan was free as part of a deal we got. You can have more meals at the cabin if you want to save more money. When we had to bring him back for a nap we got our food to go and ate it at the cabin. For us it was well worth the extra money.

It's close to Magic Kingdom which we spent a lot of time at and we just had to hop on the boat to get there. There's a small store to get essentials at and they have campfire smore's roasts every night with Chip and Dale. As another person mentioned this is also where the Hoop Dee Doo Review is. We didn't see it, but that's because we didn't get reservations WAY in advanced. Make sure you do that (get reservations if you're eating out) ASAP. They book up FAST. Have a great time we had so much fun!

We stayed at many of the Disney resorts but as a kid, the Carribean Beach Resort was our favorite. All the Disney resorts have clean rooms and nice grounds, but the Carribean had a fun pool and festive dining area. If your boys are sports fan, they may also like Disney's Allstar hotel. Any way you go, you will have a great time. Enjoy.

Hi K.! We haven't been to the Carribean Beach Resort, but when my girls were 6 and 4 we stayed at the Beach Club. It's AWESOME especially if you like to swim. The pools were soooooo cool!! There's a sandy bottom (which I thought would be gross - it's not!) and a little beach with buckets and stuff. Cool slides, etc. We love love loved it! You can walk to Epcot over this little bridge (and enjoy their Fireworks even if you're not in the park) The bus ride to Magic Kingdom was short and no big deal. When my girls were 7 and 5 we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. This was nice too - you can take a boat to Fort Wilderness (I think that's the name) where we saw a cool show called the Hoop-de-doo-review (I recommend it!) There's a decent pool - but nothing to write home about. Wilderness is closer to Magic Kingdom, so the bus ride was about 2 minutes. BUT, we actually liked Beach Club better. We haven't been back since but when we do, we'll stay at Beach Club! Have fun on your trip!!

I stayed there years ago with my husband when I won a trip from my work. They gave us a suite. It was gorgeous.

On a family budget, however, we stay at the resort of the movie themes...gosh, I cannot recall what it's called but we always stay at the one with the Dalmations. It's small, yes, but affordable.

We stayed there years ago and loved it. It's a nice resort with plenty of stuff. The other two moderate resorts we loved were Port Orleans and Coronado Springs. Both had great pools and were really nice as well. Good luck!

We stayed there in 2008. Didn't like it; wouldn't stay there again. Rooms were dirty, beds extremely uncomfortable. Depending on where your room is in the resort, the pools and the food court are a long walk.
