Anyone Know Any Affordable Rental Home/townhome Communities in the East Metro?

My fiance and I are looking to move out of our apartment and we would really like a townhouse. However, we're just not financially ready to make a purchase. It's been so hard having a kid in an apartment and we really want to make a change when our lease is up in March. I'm just looking for suggestions as to any rental communities in the east metro that are affordable and safe. Or even any ideas of how I can find people looking for tenants. ANY suggestions would be a huge help :)

What can I do next?

Hi L.-

My fiancee and I live in Oakdale which has an enormous amount of townhomes for low prices. It is a very safe area, nice neighborhoods, and close to Woodbury. I am not sure about renting, but we bought our townhome for only $147,000. It is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom and was a great step up from renting an apartment. There are a lot of deals out there for first time homeowners. TCF offers no money down and 40 year mortgage, so our monthly payment is only $800 which is much less than it would be to rent a place like this. Just an idea for you to check into. :)

I live in a townhouse that is 30% of your adjusted gross income. I believe the income requirements for a family of three cannot make more than around $40,000 a year. Not sure if you would be under that or not. I have lived here for 2.5 years and it's so much better than a apartment having a small child and all. I can send her right out the patio door and into our large grassy backyard, she can ride her bike and do things that are more difficult in a apartment. If your interested in where I rent from let me know, I'm in Burnsville but there are a ton of properties like this all over the metro. The best part for me is I can always afford to live here, my rent changes with my income.

L.,

Check out http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ looking under the housing for rent. We found ours on there and actually talked the owner into "rent to buy". Hope this helps a little!

Hello!

My husband works for a management company, and they offer some rental town homes as well. I know that there are several managment companies out there that offer them as well.

The company that he works for is "real estate equities." You can visit their web page, and check out the properties available with town house rental.

www.reeliving.com

Ones that I know of through them that have town houses available near the St. Paul area are:

Bluff park homes

Idaho Ridge town homes

Others they offer outside the St Paul area:

Columbine Town homes

Minnetonka Mills

Lakeview Commons

Medly park town homes

Columbia Court

Hope you're able to find some place you like! And Like I said, there are MANY management companies, offering rental town homes available!!!

GOOD LUCK!

J.
