This has been an on-going problem for several years now in multiple parts of the country. It's not new.
Was at defense type of training yesterday and heard something that wanted to pass along to any SAHM or WAHM. People have been posing as delivery people (UPS, FedEx, Postal) and going to doors telling people have package and need to sign. BEWARE - look outside for their vehicle and look at their dress before opening the door. People have been robbed - don't know what part of US.
Any one heard of this and know what part(s) of US happening?

NOthing new...I am sure that there are all sorts of sick people out there who will use any type of ruse to gain access to your house. You always have to be smart and aware...don't take things at face value....
It's not new, but there are relatively few deliveries that really need a signature, and if there are, you should be aware that you have one coming (computer, electronic equipment, alcoholic beverage (wine), ammo, etc - your husband should tell you if he ordered anything that needs a signature). I get enough deliveries I know who my delivery people are.
Havent heard of it in my area BUT seriously we usually always know if a package is on the way so DO be careful about opening the door if you arent expecting. Might be good since the holidays are coming to let your family know of your fear so they will let you know if they have indeed sent a package through the mail.
A lot of times these types of things are posted and sent thru email and they are only meant to cause paranoia. It's not wrong to be leery and extra safe tho, always be aware of who is around you.
Life is too short to be living in constant fear, just always be reasonably cautious, that's all we can be.
This type of thing is nothing new. It is the time of year for special deliveries, etc.
I am in Plano/Allen and we've heard of nothing lately. We have Allen address but Plano schools so our local PD is Allen. I have regular emails for any arrests or pertinent info for neighbors to know.
It just a matter of not worrying yourself to death about all the little things in the world that could happen.... always keep your eyes and ears open and use COMMON sense.
We work from home and we have a lot of deliveries. I know who my delivery people are and when to expect deliveries.
Many self defense classes bring things like this up to make you think...not to scare you. My daughter trained privately for 6+ yrs to achieve her black belt and this is a part of the training.
Don't look like you are a potential victim.....(ie fumbling around with keys, etc, talking on your cell in a parking lot, etc not paying attention to what is going on around you). Look confident and you are less of a target.
Bottom line...........use your brain and be smart.
Our Gas and Electric Company both state on our bill/statement to beware of people posing as them. It's not a new thing, you just need to be aware of your surroundings where ever you are, including your own home.
Nothing new. You always need to be careful when you open your door. I don't answer unless I know the person, or I am expecting a delivery. Real delivery people understand, and will leave you a slip of paper to tell you where you can go to pick up your package. If the flowers are for you, you will get a phone call in just a second from the flower shop to find out when they can make the delivery, they all ask fro the name and number of the person they are deliviering to so that they can get your flowers if you are not home. If it is someone from a utility company, they also can call you, because they have your phone number too. I don't answer the door, just wave and say "sorry, I don't know you..."

I haven't heard of that one but I do know in McKinney there was a man working from home during the day, a 'solicitor' knocked on the door (although pulled up in what appeared to be a lawn care truck) and the man ignored it so he could continue to work. The 'solicitor' then went to the back of the house, sure no one was home, and he and another man broke in the house. They came upon the home owner, beat him up and tied him up. When his wife and children got home they tied them up too. The two men took everything out of the house. So, the officer sharing this story said to at least let the solicitor know you are home, but don't answer the door. Things like this are hard for me since I tend to be a 'free' spirit and trusting, but I am glad to be reminded so that I can be more aware of these schemes.
