My mother is having the Elevate procedure in a few weeks with Dr McWherter in Fort Worth. Has anyone had this or know of anyone who has? We are trying to get a more realistic idea of what to expect.
Thank you!

So What Happened?

A few of you wanted to know how this turned out. It has been 3 weeks and my mother is doing great. She had the Laparoscopic option which has made her recovery much easier. so far so good and she is pleased.

My husband works for the medical device company that sells this product. I asked him to write a response for you. Hope it helps.

Elevate is one of the more advanced procedures for a condition women experience.   Vaginal prolapse can be due to age, heredity and multiple vaginal childbirths.

The procedure itself is minimally invasive and relatively straight-forward, however I would ask your physician how many Elevate procedures he/she has performed and what their patient results have been.  I would ask what to expect post-op, and what possible side effects could result.
Bottom line if your physician is an experienced surgeon, especially with the use of vaginal mesh. then you may feel more comfortable with your surgery.  If you are not sure of this, then it may be wise to get a second opinion from an experienced pelvic reconstruction specialist.

I don't know if this help But I had Full pelvic repair that included Elevation procedure for Prolapse. I had the procedure done through my vagina so I healed quickly. I healed very well. Some women have some of pain with this. I did not.I also had lots more done. I remember having to take it easy for about 6 weeks. No lifting or vacuuming things like that. I was 43 when I had it done. I went home after 2 days in the hospital , my Dr. wanted me to stay four. She will feel so much better after she has healed. I hope it all goes well for you mom. She wont have that feeling of things falling out of her anymore or leaking. She will need rest and for you to spoil her for a while! If you have any questions just send me a message and I will answer anything you want.
