I have had it for 2.5 years and I do enjoy it. When it was inserted I had some light cramping, but not nothing Tylenol didn't help. I did have spotting off and on for about 4 months, and I was told that it was my body trying to get used to it. Now I don't have a real period, just spotting that will last for about 2 days and all I ever have to use is a liner. My husband has felt the strings a few of times, but all I ever had to do was move around a little and they went back in place. Anything is better than taking the pill. You might want to check your insurance, mine was considered an inpatient procedure and it was about $700 (i think) but I only had to pay like $100 out of pocket. Good luck!

i just got it about a month ago - things haven't evened out quite yet, but i haven't had any mood issues compared to the pill or patch - i barely felt any cramping when inserted and just had to pay the copay for the office visit - i love it so far (even though my body hasn't totally adjusted) - good luck - just take some tylenol before you got to have it inserted and that should help with any cramping

My sister got it put in about three months ago and just told me. Maybe just coincidentally she has gained a lot of weight, but otherwise she says she is really happy with the decision. She said she bled off and on for almost the whole time but now it's tapering off, and when she did bleed, all she needed was a pantyliner for protection. She said her husband cannot feel the strings during intercourse, and sometimes she can't feel them so thinks she would have preferred to have had them cut a bit longer. It didn't hurt her that much going in, which is surprising because she's never had kids and the other two ladies I knew who got it before giving birth had terrible cramping when their's were inserted.

I LOVE IT! I've had it for 3 years this month with no problems whatsoever. I spotted for a little while right after it was inserted and now haven't had a real period since. Even when I do bleed a little, a pantyliner is all I need and that's only for 1/2-1 day. I have gained weight afterwards, but I'm sure that's due to lifestyle, not Mirena. I'm not having any problems losing the weight now that I've changed the lifestyle portion! I had very little cramping when it was inserted, Tylenol took care of it completely.
