Hi B.,
Peanut butter is the way to go. It gets gum out of hair so I suppose the dryer would be less of a challenge.
Good luck.
One of my sons left some gum in their pocket and yes, it ended up all over the inside of the dryer . . . any suggestions on how to get it off the dryer?
Thank you all SO MUCH! Your the best. I love this site. I froze the gum with some ice and then used my pampered chef spatula to scrape it off. That got most of it and the peanut butter got the rest! Thanks again. Happy Mother's Day!

Hi B., I do have a solution - it is called Basic H2 and is a non-toxic cleaning product for the home made by Shaklee. Used full strength, it will remove gum from hair, clothing and carpets, etc. I am a Shaklee distributor and will be happy to send you a sample along with some helpful information on its many uses. If you would like that, please contact me ###-###-#### or ____@____.com and let me know. If you are local, I will drop it off in person - otherwise, I will mail it. Looking forward to hearing from you. E. Taft
Goo Gone works well, available at most grocery and drug stores. This also works if crayons are left in pockets that go thru the drier. Good Luck.
I was thinking WD-40 as well. It got crayon out of clothing for me. Or try peanutbutter?
B.,
I believe ice cubes and or rubbing acohol may work.
Good Luck

Goo Gone definitely would work but I am not sure if it is environmentally friendly. You might also try Simple Green it is a biodegradable/earth friendly all purpose cleaner. Thank you note to Robyn F about the Citrasolv without the "e" I had no idea. How sneaky of those manufaturers! Hope some of these suggestions do the trick for you. :)
Paint thinner or laquer thinner will desolve gum. Just put a small amount on a cloth and rub the gum off. It will stink so I would then wash the dryer well with soap and water a few times.
Regular old vinegar might also work.
I would try Solumel! I was trying to get tar off my car scrubbing for 15 minutes, only smearing the tar on the area. I looked in my Wellness Guide and it suggested two non-toxic products, Solumel and Tough and Tender. So I got a paper towel and my bottle of Solumel, went back to my car and it wiped right off, no scrubbing.
Hi B.
A couple of suggestions....try freezing it with an ice cube and chiseling it off or try Citrasolv concentrated cleaner. Be sure to get the cleaner with the name spelled without the "e" on the end as that is the one made with only natural ingredients. The knock off brands are made with chemicals that are harmful.
Good Lord... don't use anything flammable in the dryer!
I would try rubbing a little peanutbutter in it, and scrape it off with a small putty knife. Then use a little household or window cleaner and a damp towel to wipe off any residue.
Good luck. :)
Hi,
I know that WD-40 will take gum out of clothes and carpet, it may work on the dryer too.
I don't know for certain, but a few ideas that you might try:
There is something on the market called Goo Gone. Just follow the directions. Probably your best bet.
Vinegar, Lestoil, peanut butter. Good luck.
I don't really have any advice to help get the gum out,
but I did want to mention to be careful if you use any cleaners/solvents inside the dryer. If they are not meant to
be heated it could spell trouble. Good Luck!
Freeze it with ice and scrape it off with a puddy knife (or spatula).
I use an ice cube on clothing to get gum off. Not sure if it would help on metal. Good luck!
I have used Oops and Goof off but in a dryer I would be very careful and make sure to remove all traces of that stuff because I know it is very flammable.
I use a great product for "sticky" situations like this one! It's called sol-u-mel & it's from an eco-friendly company called Melaleuca. You can go to their website www.melaleuca.com to learn more about it. It works on everything! I've removed permanent marker, nail polish, blueberry juice stains, & so much more! Hope this helps you out!
The same thing happened to me. I tried goo be gone but it started to take the finish off the dryer drum. I looked on line and one suggestion was to use clothes dryer sheets and it worked. I can't remember if I had to wet them or used them dry. It worked like an eraser. Good luck.
Hi B.,
I would try using ice.
Good luck,
R.
Lighter Fluid!
Works like a charm. But I would wash it off after you get the glue off, just to be on the safe side.
Hello - try rubbing ice on the gum spot. I don't know long it'll take to harden, but once it does you can scrape it right off. Good luck!
At the dollar store they have a product called Awesome. It is. I use it to remove adhesives and gum (It also takes out blood stains but that will be a future use with boys :) Then I use a scraper (like the ones from Pampered Chef) and just spray then scrape!
Dear B.,
I would try using "Goof Off". It usually works well on gum and is available at most grocery stores. It leaves a little bit on an oily residue so you'll want to use an all purpose cleaner after the Goof Off.

Hi B.! We are a loud household too- we have six rugrats running around here. I am also a stay at home mama for geez-like 14 years now. The quickest thing off my mind now would be trying the arm and hammers magic erasers (SP?LOL). Also something like Ajax that would not scratch the inside. I know rubbing alcohol won't hurt it either because years ago I had to use it to clean crayon nightmare from my brand new dyer. I wish they had those magic erasers back then-OH..... Have fun and another reason to give yourself an extra pat on the back this Mother's day.

freeze it, and chip it off------or try GOO Gone it's a miracle worker
Try a product called "Goo Gone". It is a yellow colored oily liquid. You can squeeze it on to a rag and it should wipe off with a little elbow grease. It works great if gummy bears end up in the dryer, too! I too, am a mother of 4 boys who are now 25, 20, 19 and 19. It has been a wonderful wild ride!!
Use an ice cube to freeze the gum and then pick it off... it will probably take a while, but it is one way of doing it....
