My mom did it to cut her alcohol craving. Its not just a one time thing, you have to do so many for the craving to stop. She went to one in Hurst off Hurstview and Harwood. I think it around 80-100 a time. It works!!!
I am trying to find out if anyone has gone to have acupuncture to quit smoking? My mom has smoked 45 years and really wants to quit...she quit this New Year for almost two weeks. I heard to have her go see an acupuncturist and that this works first try. Has anyone tried this? Did it work? What is the cost of going to an acupuncturist? If anyone has another suggestion to help out mommy-dear, please pass that on too.

Hi,
About 10 years ago, my sister-in-law used acupuncture to quit smoking, and it seemed to work for her. I did hear that once or twice she smoked a cigarette during times of extreme stress, but she was able to put it down again. To my knowledge she hasn't smoked in years. I've tried acupuncture for muscle pain, but that was before I moved back to Texas. (I don't have anyone local to recommend.) However, I did get relief from the muscle pain. I think they have licensing for it just like hair salons and massage therapy. Look for someone with experience and a license. When you find someone good, please give mamasource the referral! I've had some more muscle pain since I've had babies and would love to go again!

It is an interesting "science" & can be helpful, but is expensive. The clinic Heather B. referred to is likely The Center For Natural Healing. It is next to Lifetime Family Wellness Center off of Cimmaron & Harwood, a little behing the Super Walmart at Precinct & Harwood. I've used both Emily & Linda there & they're both great!

Depending on where you are located there are many centers around Arlington. We checked with our insurance company and it was covered for us, perhaps it will be for your mom as well. Many chiropractic centers have acupuncture and massage as well.
Best of success with it.
