Any Experiences with HSG Test

i had it done about two years ago. i think the experience varies person to person due to pain tolerance and also if you have any blockages or abnormalities, the counter pressure will prob be much more intense, causing a lot more pain. that said, for me, 90% of the time the test was being done, i was fine, just felt like a normal pelvic exam. but, there was about 30 seconds that i was in fairly intense pain, but the painful part was over just about as fast as it started. don't be nervous, the pain won't last long - you will get through it. good luck :)

I had it done in 2007 after 3 months of clomid didn't work. I was terrified b/c of the thing people told me. It really wasn't that bad and here is my description of it. It felt to me like a pap smear that lasted too long. That's it.
I was pregnant a week later. :) Good luck! It helped to have my hubby there holding my hand.

I have had the test done just not where you are. For me the test was a little painful. Not bad I would take some Advil before.
I had slight craming afterwards and during the test it felt like I was very bloted.
I am assuming the test is to see if you have any blockage. Good luck I know how stressful and scary time all this can be.

I thought it was pretty uncomfortable and I took 800 mg ibuprofen. its like any of those tests, just go in, do it and move on. its provides good info about the reproductive tract and potential future pregnancies.

Take 600 to 800mg of Ibuprofen about 45 minutes before you go in. Some parts were uncomfortable but not painful. I had someone drive me as I had heard some bad stories. I could have driven myself home after no problem.

It's really not as big of a deal as everyone says... I've had the test done twice- feels like pretty bad onset of mentrual cramps. Just take 600 mg motrin and you should be fine! Try and relax- good luck!

I had an HSG test years ago, although not in Torrance, but I think they're pretty similar regardless of where it is. Just try to be prepared for some pain. I'm not trying to scare you, but prepare you. If you are a person who has always had painful periods it should be easier for you to handle. Also, if they tell you you can either drive yourself there & home, or go to work after, I recommend you just take the day to yourself. You should feel better the next day, but really just take it easy that day. I had one friend who got this test and felt it wasn't bad at all. Another said this test convinced her that maybe natural childbirth wasn't something she really needed to experience! I just wanted to go home after it was done. Lay down the rest of the day. Practice some breathing techniques, don't panic and you'll get through it! The info you can get is so important, You will get through it! Good luck!
