Any Experience with Bookoo?

Hi! I just got a flyer for the website Bookoo and am wondering if anyone has any experience with using this site to buy/sell stuff? I guess it's like Craigslist? The flyer I got was specifically for Aurora Bookoo which hits the Fox Valley/West Suburban area, but I guess that's the just the local chapter. I have a bunch of baby clothes and other miscellaneous stuff to sell and I'm wondering if this would be as good, if not better than just doing yet another garage sale or eBay. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I am a big fan of Bookoo. It used to be called napervilleyardsales.com, but then they expanded it and renamed it. I use the Naperville chapter to sell my things. I think they get higher traffic since they were the original demographic. But you are probably better off listing your things in Aurora.

One thing that really helps is to price your items very reasonably. I price my things fairly aggressively ($5 for a $25 new-in-box princess scooter, $3 for a ($20 pillow pet in excellent used condition, $5 for a lot of five princess dresses.....) I am more interested in getting rid of my things while putting a few coins back into my piggy bank. When people price their items at only 50% off retail, they don't tend to sell.

Keep in mind that just because someone sends you an e-mail asking for more information or telling you they want to buy your item, it doesn't mean your item will sell. No-shows and flakes are not uncommon. Experienced buyer/sellers will tell you that they want to buy your item and when they are available to purchase it. If I get more than one person interested in my item, I sell it to the first person who can come pick it up.

Also, for any items under $50, I will just leave it on the front porch for the buyer. This way, I don't have to be home for the transaction if I am busy. It allows the buyer to inspect the item and decide if it is in good condition. I put a box next to the item so they can leave their money in it. I have never had a problem with anyone taking the item without paying for it. And I've never had anyone decide not to buy the item after seeing it either.

Good luck to you! I must say that I think I've bought more things through Bookoo than I've sold. But there are lots of bargains there, and I find it easier to navigate than Craigslist.

I love bookoo! It is nice for us because the craigslist for here covers a very large area (we are in an area that has lots of woods around each little town). Bookoo is more localized and I know that everything is within a short drive instead of an hour and a half for a $5 purchase. I have never posted anything, but I have bought stuff before. It is great!

LOVE Bookoo, you don't get the crazy scammers like with craiglist....i hate craigslist & will not use them......I use Bookoo all the time to purchase & sell stuff.....Napervilleyardsales.com is the largest one in Illinois, so most people don't look at the smaller ones like aurora, oswego etc, they just go for the big one...........i even have the decal on my car (as of a week ago)
