How about a garbage in the cabinet or one of the stainless steel garbages with a lid? Hitting the puppy is unacceptable and teaches him nothing!
Now, my dog Sadie has this thing when every time I get my period my dog decides to dig though the garbege and take them. I do not know what to do becayse no matter what garbege I put it in she some hpw gets it. I also do not know what to do to her when she dose get the pad. Should I hit her or lock her some where. I need to do something that will work.

Please NEVER EVER EVER hit an animal for any reason.
That can never be an option.
No matter what you do, violence wont solve a thing. Wrap them in a tissue and keep a small garbage can under your sink just for them or throw them in a garbage can in the garage. My dogs did the same thing.
Good luck,
Jennifer
There is nothing you can do to keep her from wanting to get at them. I had one dog (out of 7) that was obsessed with the bathroom garbage during my period (she was also obsessed with the cat box - i couldn't figure out why my catbox didn't seem to have much poop in it... then i caught the dog eating it!). The only thing that worked was putting the pads/tampons out of her reach. might be inconvenient to change your habit, but it's safer for the puppy to not ingest the cotton/pad materials and less disgusting for those who find it shredded all over the bathroom floor and have to clean it up. I dont have to tell you how unsanitary it is overall... keep her from getting to it. you are really the only one that can figure out what method will work best for you. I just kept a small can under the bathroom sink, behind the cabinet door and put them in there wrapped in toilet paper, and emptied every day at night and brought the bag out to the trash.
good luck!
Please do not hit your dog. Instead of abusing an animal why don't you try:
-shutting the bathroom door
-using a garbage can in the bathroom that has a lid
-keep a stash of old plastic grocery bags in the bathroom and use them to wrap up an old pad, then immediately take it to the garbage can
There is a great dog obedience and training facility in Oswego/Naperville called Narnia Pet Behavior. Can't say enough great things about them.....maybe give them a call and ask their advice. They are always willing to share ideas to help dogs.
A simple solution would be to wrap the used pads in tp and carry it out to the kitchen garbage (push it down into the other trash). This should solve the issue as long as the dog can't get in that garbage. I don't have a dog and do this anyway just because I think it's gross for people who follow you since the pads are so obvious in the small waste basket in the bathroom (I'm the only female in the house).
That's my 2 cents--hope it helps:)~J.

I had the same problem when I was young and living at home. The only thing that stopped my dog from raiding the garbage was to take my used pads outside to the garbage as soon as I was done in the bathroom. If it was too late to go outside, I'd tie them up in a grocery bag and hang it on the doorknob (outside, not inside) until morning and then take it to the trash can on my way to school. Hope this helps!
