My brother is coming from Atlanta with his 3 kids for x-mas. My younger brother will also be home with his toddler. I ALWAYS do gifts for the kids. The last few years we've kind of skipped gifts for my siblings. This has not been particularly popular with my older brother. So, since we are all together this year, I thought I should do something, but have no idea what to buy. I am thinking I'd like to do a "family" gift that everyone can use. Maybe some kind of gift basket? I don't want to spend much ($20).
Does anyone have ideas? I don't know if there are new games out there, or some favorite family activities that would lend themselves to a basket gift. My older brothers kids are 8, 6 and nearly 3. My younger brother has a 20 month old.

Thanks for the great ideas. I ended up with a "ice cream" theme, I found a great scoop at "The Kitchen Window" in Uptown, and some super tasty toppings at Target (Archer Farms brand). I think it was a fun gift. Thanks again!
If it's not too pricey, how about a membership or gift certificate to an attraction local to them? I'm thinking of Children's museums, zoos, etc. Something the whole family can enjoy? I also really like others' suggestions of board games or movies nights. You could even get them a netflix membership.

You could do a movie basket with one of the newest releases, some popcorn, pop or juice boxes, candy. Or a game package would be a good idea. Scene it, Deal or No Deal, Uno, a few card games, plus a few treats. One great idea I seen at a craft show was a snowman kit! In a little gift bag there were contents to put a snowman together. A black hat, carrot nose, eyes, mouth, scarf, buttons & arms. Then some hot chocolate to drink after they made the snowman. Hope some of these ideas help. Have a great holiday with your family!
I woul recomend movies, board games, a photo calendar of pictures of the family,(office max makes them for 13 dollars) or maybe a gift cerfiticate for a restraunt or store that they all like.
I've seen people do cute gift baskets w/a movie night theme: a family movie, microwave popcorn, treats, etc.
Another idea of things they could do together: Creative Kidstuff has a kit where kids can decorate their own melamine plate.
We all love the game The aMAZEing Labyrinth by Ravensburger. My son was able to play when he was 4 (we just use less cards). It's a great game for just 2 people, too, if the parents want to play after the kiddies go to bed.
How about some playing cards - like "Go Fish" and "Old Maid". My daughter has been playing them since she was 3, and loves them.
We have a board game called "Max" from www.cooperativegames.com. The thing I like about this game (and the others they make) is that the family plays together cooperatively, instead of against one another. The kids just adore it, and most of their games are about $19. Either way, I think a board game is a good idea, something the family can enjoy together.
I like "Family Cranium" for that age range. It is on sale at Amazon.com for $9 with free shipping for orders over $25! Also, Blokus is a great new game for the family or just the adults. It used to be in the educational toy area at Target but for Christmas they moved it to the games wall. They are pricy though, $30 for the regular size game and $20 for the 2 player version.
We usually do a family type gift for own family that the whole family can enjoy. This year its a popcorn maker, last year it was a board game(I highly recommend all of the cranium games, they have age ranges from preschool to adults and I really enjoying playing them with my 8 year old as they manage to make the games fun for adults as well) and the year before that it was a large volume of disney stories. A "movie night" basket with a family movie (the shrek movies are always enjoyable for adults as well) with candy, popcorn, etc or a Sundae basket with a new ice cream scoop different kinds of toppings and nuts is kind of a fun family gift that everyone can enjoy.
