We were planning a group trip with friends to an all-inclusive resort. The friends have all backed out now and we are planning one with the group for next year. Just wondering if there were any must-see locations in the US that have been your favorite. We will be traveling in January so I know any domestic beaches are out of the question, as I believe they are too cool in Jan. Just kinda wondering what your favorite destinations are.

What can I do next?

For January, for warm places, Southern California, or Hawaii. For winter fun, anyplace that has skiing or hunting.

I were going to go someplace in January, I would go to the Caribbean on a cruise. You can catch nice cruises out of Porter Rico, Florida, California, and Hawaii. There is also a nice Panama Canal Criuse that leaves out of Fort Lauderdale and lands in California, and some that leave California and end up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

You can also go to Porto Rico and spend time on the beaches with out
a passport.

Hope you have lots of fun. Good luck to you and yours.

Florida would be wonderful in January. Naples is lovely.

I second Sedona, Az.

Or how about trying for Palm Springs, Ca?

It really depends on what you're looking for. Warmer weather I assume? Florida or Southern California (LA is fun but San Diego is too and I think it's prettier!) Northern California is not as warm but it's not too cold and we have beautiful beaches, San Francisco and Napa Valley (which you will LOVE if you love good food and world class wine.)
I second that Sedona is very nice but it's also remote. You will love it if you're looking for something peaceful and outdoorsy but if you want more restaurants and nightlife you're better off going to Florida or California.

Just wanted to pipe in that Florida can be hit or miss in the winter. We went to Orlando in December 2009 and it was cold - 50's, maybe 60's. We were in Miami last January and it was HOT and HUMID! I loved it...just what I was looking for when we boarded the plane in DC and it was 19.

Can you go to the caribbean? It was really hot there last January...and I assume it's normally that way. They have great rates on cruises or other all-inclusive resorts.
