I have started jogging off and on. Now I've noticed a huge not on the top of my foot and my ankle is hurting when I walk .Its been like this a couple of days now,, any i deals? I have spranged my ankle in the past but it was a long time ago ...p.s sorry about the mistakes my daughter loves to help mama type...

This sort of question is one to ask your doctor. There aren't any ankle replacements (yet) so it's good to take good care of the ones you have. I suggest you make an appointment, and ask when you call if this might be something that should keep you from jogging. Regards to your little daughter! :^)

I fractured my foot when I was younger. It was a stress fracture from running cross country. I had a large knot on the top of my foot and I had pain in my ankle. The fracture was in the bone on top of my foot. When my foot started aching, I apparently started walking differently in order to compensate. This is why the ankle started hurting.

I would set up an appointment with the doc to have it checked out.

I had a huge knot on top of my foot years ago, and got scared I had broken something. When I saw the doctor, he said my shoe was laced too tight and had inflamed that area. I had no idea it was even too tight. You might look and see if that could be an issue. Good old ice and rest are probably a good idea.

I am not sure but when I have unexplained pain I back off what I am doing for a while. Sometimes my brain sends mixed messages to my body parts so like one muscle pulls when it should push, lord that hurts and messes me up for a bit.

The knot is what is bugging me because they tend to be around the bits that move. The top of your foot really doesn't move.

Are you going to your doctor any time soon, perhaps this would be a good question for him.

Were you a walker first before you were a jogger? If not, walk first and add in a little jogging at a time. SLOWLY.
How about the shoes? Brand new, really old or somewhere in between?
3rd question: what surface are you running on?
Grass is my favorite for new joggers, tracks at a school or park are second, and running on the streets, sidewalks is my least favorite!!! Too much impact.

p.s. ice it! the knot is from inflammation...and ice packs or frozen peas/corn bag on it will reduce inflammation.
