Aluminum Cans for Cash

I am into recycling and try to do my part. Anyway, by my son's school there is a recycling center and I take our recycling there but I am wondering if anyone knows a place in Houston that gives you cash for your aluminum cans? I thought it would be nice to give the cash to my son's school in his grandfather's memory(granted it wouldn't be a huge amount but nonetheless it would show my children to give back instead of receiving in return for doing a nice deed). We live in the Galleria area but I travel to the Town and Country area. I don't mind driving outside these areas if if something isn't too far. We do have friends scattered in other parts of Houston so we can always take the cans when we go visit. Thank you for all advanced suggestions. Happy Summer!

The place on Westhiemer near Synott is still there ~ I drove by it the other day. I believe the current price is $.73 per pound. Good luck

There is a scrap metal dealer on Shepherd around 19th (in The Heights area.) I don't remember the company name, you may have seen him - he does advertisements on TV. We bring our soda cans to him about once a month.

what a good idea.
the biggest place that I know of is C & D, it is off of Durham and 25th. they will even help you bring the cans into the recycling center if you need them to. they take everything, brass, steel, aluminum, copper, just about anything that is metal. and they pay in two dallor bills.

Thank you for recycling!! And for modeling for your kids a way to make a difference for ther environment. 2 places: there used to be a place on Westheimer, near Synott, that accepted bags of cans for cash, but that area got developed recently, and I don't know where he might have relocated to; there is a can-crusher machine that pays money for your cans as you crush them. It is in the Spring Branch area, and as soon as the Rolodex of my mind brings the location to me, I will respond again! It is above Westview or Long Point, but not farther than Hammerly and painted bright blue. It is on a NE corner lot where there is a gas station/convenience. It may be on Bingle or Campbell, but not Silber, Antoine, or Wirt---I haven't used it in years but saw it recently while driving. I take all my recycling (except batteries--a coworker takes them) and that of my company to City of West U recycling.

My 11 yr old son's grandparents got him into recycling and he gets to cash in his cans and add to his savings account.
The other day we drove by a place and he pointed out to me that it is where his grandparents take him to cash in his cans. It is off of South Post Oak and Fuqua.
If you go towards the Reliant Stadium from the Galleria area, exit South Post Oak. You will pass several lights probably about 8. Once you pass up West Orem it will be on your right hand side right before the Fuqua Light. I may be lieing and it may be right after. Good luck!
