I personally take zyrtec every day and didn't realize until recently they have it for children also. Maybe you already know about it, but it's worth a try.
Good luck,
Amanda
My son is 18 months old. He constantly has a runny nose, cough, itchy red eyes.... We were told that they do not do anything for young children until they are at least 2. We do give him allergy medication, but nothing helps. My husband had the very same issue until he started his allergy shots. As a family we love to camp and hang outside all of the time, but now we are stuck inside with the windows shut and the AC on. Trying for any relief for my poor son. Anyone out there have the same problem or know of anything we can do to help him out?

Hey B.!
It is so hard to tell if little ones actually have allergies or they have colds!!! If it is allergies, I would recommend ridding your household of any cleaning products that have harsh chemicals like: ammonia, chlorine, bleach, and formaldehyde. Sometimes these chemicals have tendencies to trigger allergies and ashtma. (Formaldehyde is a preservative that helps products keep their shelf life. It is a know cancer causing agent! And...it is found in our baby washes! Check your baby washes for Quanterium 15 or Q15.) I have switched my household to more natural cleaning products and I feel so much safer!!!
Message me if you'd like me to email you some information on allergies and household chemicals
Sincerely, S.
A little about me: I am 34 years old, married with 2 children. I stay at home with them Mon. thru Fri. and I am a registered nurse on the weekends. I love making jewelry, scrapbooking, and gardening!!!
I am not sure what you mean by "constantly" and how long this has been going on but you may find that it is foodd allergies as opposed to environmental. Those are the same symptoms of my daughter and she has food allergies. Since you say closing the house and running the a/c it may be worth checking what he is eating.
Sorry to hear about your son's allergies. My son has the same thing but fortunately he is 3 and can take the zyrtek every day which has helped tremendously. You are right that the bottle says they can't take it until they are two but perhaps you should see your doctor. The zyrtek bottle also says that 2-6 year olds should only take 1 tsp max every 24 hours but my doctor said they can actually take up to 2 tsp if necessary. We have kept my son at the 1 tsp level and he is fine. My point is that the doctor is saying something different than the label and perhaps the doc would ok a small amount for an 18 mo old. The doctor also prescribed special eye drops to deal with the itchey red eyes. Unfortunately our insurance doesn't cover much and the drops were over $80. We declined the drops when we heard how much they were and decided to see if the zyrtek would help by itself and it did. See your doctor, they may be able to prescribe other meds as well. The poor boy shouldn't have to suffer.
Dr. Jacobs in Iowa City has produced some great results!
Allergies are an immune response. He works with the body to reduce the adverse reactions. His approach is very gentle and natural. I took my godson when he was very young because he was reacting very strongly to anything with sugar in it. After one treatment the symptoms were greatly reduced!
Dr. Jacobs is very easy to talk to, and he would offer some great suggestions. He can also do muscle testing to see what specifically your son's body is reacting to adversely.
Dr. Jacobs uses a combination of Acupressure and chiropractic care. Ph. ###-###-####.

I took my son to the allergist before he was 1 and he gave us great advice. They can test for some allergens - dust, mold, pets, etc. We see Dr. Sveum - Park Nicollet St Louis Park.
Hi B.! Little Noses makes a product for little allery sufferers! It's a serum that you rub on the outside of the nostrils and it's supposed to reduce irritation.
It's about $15 and sold at Wal-Mart. All natural and not a medication!
Hi B.,
I dealt with allergies most of my life and just 3 years ago found Reliv and since using this product I have not had any issues. My 3 year old has used this product since he was 3 months old and to date has not had a sick visit to the Dr. It is the safest most effective nutrition out there. I know people that had severe food allergies that use this and no longer have issues as well. Worth checking out if you are looking for answers. I became a distributor and building an amazing business all because of how effective Reliv is for people. You can check out the company at www.reliv.com or contact me if interested in more information.
Blessings,
L.
