I have never heard of this, but my daughtter who is now three has been flying since she was an infant and has never had a problem!
A while ago I saw an article in a magazine for a filter that fits over the airplane air vent that is supposed to "filter" out some of the "bad" air while flying. Does anyone know where I can get one of these? It was market to parents for babies traveling and now I cannot remember where I saw it. Thanks.

Hi S., I'm a flight attendant it's amyth about airplane filters and the air getting you sick the air is always recycled from fresh air outside of the airplane. My only advice is to you is that if your little one is walking ot keep shoes on there feet if they are walking around the cabin. My son has traveled for years or if they have a cold or ear problem talk to your doctor or pharmacist before you fly for tips..:) have a great trip
Hi S. -
Like many moms here, I've never heard of this filter, so I'm sorry that I can't be of any help to you in your search.
It was interesting to learn from the mom who's a flight attendant that fresh air gets filtered into the cabins. Apparently, that's not enough to cleanse the air because EVERY time I fly on a plane, I disembark with a terrible cold that lasts for at least two weeks. This is regardless of taking precautionary meds/vitamins. In fact, the only time I ever get colds that are this bad is when I travel on planes. Thankfully, my kids who've flown over the continental U.S. and the Pacific Ocean four times have never disembarked with bad colds. Still, I shudder to think what we're all really breathing when we fly.
Take care and have a safe trip.
I just googled it and found it. The link is...

I had never heard of it before. Very cool. I will be flying with my children in a couple weeks and will definitely get this!

I have never heard of what you are talking about. I would tell you not to worry about it. Something like this to me sounds like a waste of money especially since it is not going to filter the air from anyone around you, in front of you, behind you, walking past you etc. Good luck in finding it but you would probably be just as well off without it.
Just my opinion.

S.,
I searched on www.google.com for "airplane vent filter". I found this website

Check it out! Hope it helps you!

There's a company called Allergy Control...they may have it or know where to find it.
Good luck,

Great idea...i will have go look this up. Since we also fly from time to time back home to Texas...I would like to suggest Airborne, Jr. for your little one. They have it for adults. You take the little fizz tablet and it protects against germs in the air. You can find it at any Wal-Mart, CVS or Walgreens. Perfect for travel, school and work. My niece and sons don't mind taking it. We call it their special vitamin juice.
The AirRight filter, due in airport stores July 1 and sold at airright.net (800-327-6151), attaches to the air vent over a seat. Its manufacturer says it removes "99.5% of bacteria and viruses from the passenger's personal air space." The reusable filter costs $7-$9.
Is it what an expert in aviation medicine would prescribe?
"These filters may well work, but they're not actually necessary, because almost all modern aircraft already have (air) filters built in," says Michael Bagshaw, president of the Aerospace Medical Association. He says a just-completed study for the European Union found that air in pressurized cabins is cleaner than that in most public settings.
A filter, he adds, will "not protect you from the guy with a cold or influenza sitting next to you."
