Hello Mama's, I need to have the air ducts in my house cleaned. This is the first time I am getting it done and was wondering if you have any suggestions on a reliable company that can do this for me at a decent cost. I live on a budget as a single mom and don't want to be swindled. I have read reviews from some companies and they have been bad. Who have u used? Were you satisfied with the work and around how much did they charge you? I live in a single home, one level and one a/c unit in Wylie, TX.

Any input and suggestions welcome. Thank you in advance. Have a Wonderful Day!!!

S.

I agree with Aileen.

The people in the Duct cleaning business make a lot of money of unsuspecting people.

We were told by an AC person that it is a complete waste of money. You can do a lot of cleaning on your own with your vac, washrag and soapy water.

We looked into air duct cleaning a few years ago and found pretty much the whole thing to be a scam.

Yes, there are **exceptions**, but first - you can clean most of it yourself by pulling off the registers and wiping with a moist paper towel. Second, the pricing varies wildly and you should make sure that they stick an actual brush in the vents. That'll cost around $400 and up for a mid sized house.

We had a company clean the ducts in our first home (this was 1990) shortly after we moved in (in Northern Virginia).
The house was about 30 years old at the time.
It was absolutely amazing the amount of dirt and dog hair they cleaned out and they found Lego parts and some coins in the ducts too.
We watched them throughout the whole procedure and they were happy to show us how they did everything every step of they way.
The house smelled so much cleaner when they were finished.
We never had them cleaned out again - we just wanted prior owner's dirt cleaned out plus we didn't have any pets, didn't smoke and didn't open the windows very often.
I know there are scam artists out there but we had a very good experience.
I don't remember exactly how I found the company (I think I used the yellow pages).
When searching for a good company, check them out with the Better Business Bureau and see if there are any complaints against them.
