After Having Tubes Tied...

How long did it take you to get over the fear of getting pregnant?

I have 2 daughters (18 months and 6 months). The second one was a HUGE surprise, and I'm still reeling from how different my life is than previously planned. The fact that the baby is incredibly difficult only makes it worse. I had my tubes tied after she was born, about 5 months ago. And I still find myself worrying about being pregnant. When will this go away??

What can I do next?

My best friend not only had her tubes tied, but had an ablation (due to extremely heavy periods) all after her husband had a vasectomy. They still joke about getting pregnant.

Having been on the other end and knowing more women than I can count that wish/wished their tubal ligation would fail I feel confident in saying that the chances of you getting pregnant are very very very slim. your doc can tell you just how slim. and you can always ask for them to check and see that your tubes are blocked.

I haven't had that worry since the day I got mine done! Maybe because my husband also got a vasectomy 2 weeks after our 4 month old was born. You can ask your dr to check if your tubes are blocked that might help put your mind at ease.

You need to go to your Doc & ask him/her to give you some literature on the type of Tubal that you had. If that doesn't put your mind at ease then simply use another type of protection to be, 'sure'.

This was never a concern for me after having my Tubal in 1977 until a Hysterectomy in 1990, I never conceived...I hope your Doc can put your ____@____.com he/she cannot this is going to eventually hinder your sex life, so you need to address it...Best & I hope this helped a little!

I'm still paranoind, too.
I've had Essure, and DH has had a vasectomy. I didn't trust the vasectomy. I've met 3 vasectomy babies in the last year.

So...I stayed on the pill until I got my Essure done with confirmation. I was reluctant to go off, still!
I've had 1 period so far, and I've been wondering the same as you...am I ever going to get to a point where I'm not praying I get a period every month? We're both sterile for god's sake! Every time I get worried, I just remind myself of that, and that I need to calm down.

But I feel your pain! LOL!
