Our family is moving to SE Portland soon and we have Kaiser coverage. I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good doctor for the kids?

What can I do next?

We see Nicole Davis at Division and we LOVE her very much. We also use the urgent care at Mt. Scottt and often see our own docotors there on rotation. I happen to love the Kiaser system here in the SE.

Both of my kids see Dr Ruden at the Division Clinic in SE PDX. We have been with him for 7 years now since my oldest was born. He has been good to the kids and with us and has taken my concerns and questions seriously.

The issue with Kaiser is not necessarily who you want to see, but rather what doctors are open to seeing new patients. They can be few and far between. You can either call or search the kp.org website to find physicians who aren't fully booked.

Our 16mo son has been seeing Dr. Hicks at the Sunnyside Mt. Scott clinic. We like her.

My son mainly sees Dr Vigil at the Division clinic and she has been very nice. We have also seen Dr Ruden and Nicole Davis and they have been good as well.

I have Kaiser. They want you to make a "get acquainted visit before you settle on one doctor. I found my doctor by calling membership services. They told me which doctors were taking new patients. I then looked those doctors up on the Kaiser web site and was going to choose based on appearance and credentials. I know that if I didn't mesh with this doctor I could try another one.

However, I needed a doctor before I'd done that. I had an appointment with a nurse practicioner. Her supervising doctor introduced himself to me and since I liked him I chose him.

You can ask questions of your doctors and pharmicists by e-mail once you sign in to the Kaiser web site. You can also see the results of your tests and a list of your diagnosis and treatments.

Some doctors are family practitioners and so if you wish you can have the whole family seen by the same doctor.

I recommend that you call customer services to get a summary of how the system works.

I love Kaiser Insurance!
