Advice on Toilet Locks

Hi!
I have been baby-proffing my house as my son is getting into everything, and I bought the Safety 1st toilet locks. These are the ones that suction to the toilet. Well, despite my following directions and cleaning the surface, they just won't stay up. Sometimes they will stay for a day or 2 but then I'm back to them falling off. Does anyone have a better toilet lock they would reccommend? Is it easy to install and use? Any others to stay away from?
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

we must have purchased the same toilet lock because we had the same problem. we ended up throwing it away & just keeping the bathroom door closed at all times for a few months. our son (now 19 months) eventually lost interest or else began to understand that the toilet wasn't something to play in or throw things in. now it's not a problem at all and we've left the door open again for a few months now.

We ended up getting one of the "appliance locks." It is sticky on either end and sticks to the toilet and has a latch in the middle- the same thing we have on our dishwasher. We periodically have to replace it, I think the condensation on the toilet loosens the adhesive. It's the best solution we have found after two toilet water loving kids.

I did the same as Carolyn, we put a door knob cover on the bathroom door and then always kept the door closed (and the toilet lid down just in case). Now my daughter (14 mo) isn't that interested.

The appliance lock sounds like a good idea if that ever changes for us.

Lock the door to the bathroom instead of the toilet...with the knob covers.
