Try talking to the childs teacher and see if he/she knows someone at the school that does tutoring....maybe they can help you. I have gotten alot of good ideas from teachers.

My Son is a child with special needs because of several surgeries for hydrocelphaus.
His attention span is very low. I need some advice on how to assist him with different tutoring ideas. I have tried Home Schooling him because of his illness. Please advise?

Hi B.,
Whenever I've tutored someone with a short attention span, what I've found that's worked is relating the tutoring to something that the person is interested in. I was teaching acceleration and velocity to someone on the crew team at my school and she wasn't grasping anything. So, I learned a bit about the sport she was interested in and related my tutoring topics to rowing. She was far more interested and grasped the concepts much better.
You say your son has a short attention span, so I don't know if that is with activities or not, also, but that might be a way you can try to work with him on schoolwork.

Not sure which state you are in, but I would check all of your local elementary schools or call the board of ed. There is usually at least 1 school that has specialty teachers for their special education class. It is beyond the normal special ed class and the teachers are specially trained to deal with all of the medical issues as well as the educational. They are usually well staffed with Teachers aides as well. Good luck!

have you checked into Sylvan?
How old is your child?
