We have this one from Fisher Price. It's fabric and super cute http://www.amazon.com/Little-People-Nativity-Advent-Calen... They also make this one http://www.amazon.com/Little-Christmas-Countdown-Calendar...
When I was a kid, we had a fabric Advent Calendar with different ornaments you put on the tree. Each one symbolized something about Christmas and we read the little tags for each item. Does anyone know where to find something like that or very simple instructions for how to make one? Our plain little "move the marker" calendar has seen better days.
I'm looking for a reusable fabric calendar. The one we had was handmade and purchased at a garage sale so it may simply have been a cool one of a kind. I've found references to a Jesse Tree calendar, but the one we had use all sorts of symbols, like candy canes. I may have to make them up myself.

Updated: MY MOM FOUND IT! I can't believe it. So I'm going to make one for my sister and we can each have one of our own. :)

The Jesse Tree was the first thing that came to mind reading your post. We did it during Mass when I was in gradeschool. (We had Mass every Wednesday morning.)
Here's what I found on the symbols for the Jesse Tree, but in theory, there's nothing that says you can't add your own or take away if the actual Jesse Tree ceremony isn't your thing. http://www.crivoice.org/jesse.html
ETA: This website shows one that I think I've seen before at Hobby Lobby, if you've got one of them nearby.

I have one that is years old also Im hoping to get another year or two out of it!
I've always found them at Christian stores, but looks like others have found them in lots of places. I'm sure if you google it, lots of clever DIY suggestions pop up. Great idea! I FINALLY got my hands on the one we used when we were kids, lobbied hard to get that from my parents!
I've seen them at Hobby Lobby, and World Market. I was just at those two places last week. World Market doesn't have them out yet, but I did see them at Hobby Lobby...if you have one.
Call some local Catholic churches and see if any of them are going to have a Christmas craft fair. I'll bet you could get some beautiful one-of-a kind pieces made by some sweet little old ladies.
you should check oritental trading, lillian vernon, and abc distributors websites. I've seen them on there many times :)
Peace and Blessings,
T. B
You can find Advent calendars at Christian book and gift stores. I've seen them in World Market, too. Here's a site about making them (one of many):

Enjoy!
I do not know where to find one but wanted to share what I saw on Pinterest and decided to start this year with my 5 and 3 year olds. I have started now and am going to buy 24 new books for my kids (my daughter is starting to read so this is a great time to introduce books she can read). Starting Dec 1st, they will get a new book each day (1 total for both kids) until the 24th. This is their 'advent'. Next year, I will either continue and get them 24 new books or maybe switch it up and they will get 24 sheets of stickers, coloring books, etc. This is more pricey than a chocolate one or something else, but I think it will be fun!!!!
We have one made out of a metal tray that is decorated as an advent calendar. We use a decorative magnet to count off the days. I wish I had a picture to show you- it's adorable!
Also, pinterest has crazy good advent calendar ideas!

Go here and scroll down, there are lot of Advent calendars.
Hallmark stores often have them as well as Target and Walmart. Google Advent calendar and I'm sure you will have 100 to choose from.
I know you are looking for a fabric advent calendar but I saw a fabric and couple of wood ones at Pottery Barn Kids and Tuesday morning. We buy the lego advent calendar for our son and I have a wood one that I use every year for advent. Check out the Pottery Barn Kids one its quite lovely and it is fabric material. Good Luck!
