I just wanted to tell you that I think that adopting is awesome, especially when you are infertile. My best friend of 10 years, was adopted at birth, and his mother is wonderful. He is very happy, and never even cared that his parents weren't his bio ones. They are some of the best people I have ever known.

Hi I am responding to you because my husband and I have been in the same boat.We also have been diagnosed as infertile,we have struggled with fertility treatments, etc. for over 10 years with no success...it has been a long, hard road.We became foster parents in 1998 with the hope of adopting,we dreamed of a very large family. We have had more than 50 children come and go from our home during that time.We finally were able to adopt 2 years ago and we have 7 children(6 adopted and one I had from a previous marriage). We have 5 girls and 2 boys...ages 3,4,5,13,14,15 and 17.We hoped we'd be able to adopt an infant or a very young sibling group, but that did not happen. The youngest 3 of our children were relatives that we got to adopt and the older ones were our foster children. We loved being foster parents,it is a very rewarding experience but also hard work, time consuming and very hard emotionally because you get attached to the kids and then they move them...over and over again. Also, there are just not many small kids in foster care that are availible for adoption...it can take years to get a small child that you can adopt. The biggest need is for people to adopt older kids, large sibling groups, and kids with disabilities. We would not change a thing because we loved helping kids in need and we have a great family as a result of being foster parents. It can be a wonderful experience and I wish you the very best of luck.Look at the Adoptuskids website...there you can see what type of kids are availible for adoption through the foster care system.

I think you are headed in the right direction to start the process, If you wouldnt mind having a younger child instead of a infant, the state might be able to help, but be ready for challenges along the way. From what you described, you would be able to help a abused child grow up into a wonderful situation. And make a difference. I was adopted, so if you have any questions, please feel free to do so.

K.,
I've adopted twice.
My daughter was a foster child and we were foster/adoptive parents through DHS. It was a long drawn out process alot of heartaches till finally she came into our home. When your a F/A parent and you get the chidren in your home as foster children you need to sike yourself out to believe you are a glorified baby sitter. Then by the grace of God one might become yours. Like I said it was hard and drawn out but in the end SO worth it.
Our son was stickly a GIFT FROM GOD! We had given up our status of F/A parents and was grateful for having our daughter in our life. Didn't even plan on any more children just thankful for what we had. O I mentioned I would like her to have a simbling but I figured it was a pipe dream. On March 13th, 2006 my sister in law called to tell me about this girl that did not want to keep her newborn and did not want to take it home from hospital. She as if we were interested. I told her I would talk with my husband and see what he says. ( I figured he would say NO) He seemed excited. But, I was alittle reluctant sense I delt with this stuff in the past. SO we called and made arrangements to meet the girl. March 17th, 2006 we met her she was low income and she knew her limitations and knew she could not provide for this child and get her other two back. We talked and asked many questions and exchanged phone numbers. We had a false alarm one night at the hospital. But, I took her to doctor on the 24th and on the 27th she was induced I got to be in the delivery room and be the first to hold him and we've been inseperable ever sense. I had to got get baby stuff and my sister in law gave me an emergency baby shower. It was wild. I didn't have to worry for 9 months to see if she would changer her mind. We finalized on April 25th, 2006 (Exactly 4 years and 15 minutes from when we finalized on my daughter. They were meant to be siblings. Just took the long way around)
Good luck on your adventure. It is a total blessing to bring these children in your life. There are alot of children lost in the system infoster care that can not get a forever family. I wish you well.

My husband and I adopted through the Texas Children Protective Services. We have been blessed with 2 girls (sisters), at the time their ages were 5 and 6. We started the training, paperwork, etc. which took a bit of time. We received them in July 2005 and by Nov 2005 we adopted them. Normally it takes longer for foster children to be adopted once placed with you, but the Lord had other plans and we are amazingly blessed. Any more information just email me personally. Our prayer and wished go to you and your husband.

K., we adopted a child from South Korea through Holt International Children's Services. We had to go to Memphis Airport to pick her up. It took about a year for everything. She is grown now and works for the state. She was always an A student. They are a Christian Adoption Agency and very easy to talk to. If you need more information or are intersted, I will be happy to tell you more.

I handle foster care adoptions in the local area. Call me at ###-###-#### and I will point you in the right direction. Visit www.easttexasheartgallery.com to see some of the older and hard to place children in our area. Thee are lots of babies too, but they are not on the website because they go quick and are easy to place.

My husband and I just starting the foster/adopt program this past year...we recieved three children 4, 2, and 10mths in October. They are foster only (was a special situation) the plan for them is to go home. But we are actively looking to adopt. We went through the state...Child Protective Services. There are several good organizations out there..we just felt like we wanted to deal directly with the state. The other organizations deal with the state and then you deal with the organization. It really depends on what age you are looking to adopt. I have a lot more information on it if you are interested. I would recommend starting the process as soon as possible...it takes a very long time to get all the paperwork, training, and inspections done. Even if your house is not finished you can get everything else done up to that point. I wish you the best of luck and please contact me at ____@____.com if you want further information.

A Little About Me:
I have three children 18, 16, and 13 from my first marriage...I have been married for 2 1/2 years to a my soulmate. We have three foster children 4 ,2, and 10mths and both work full time!

Hi K., my husband and I have completed our adoption. Our son was placed with us on 01/02/2006 and his adoption was finalized on 12/05/06. He is a wonderful little boy. We used a christian agency in Lynchburg, Va, and they were a god send. We has just about given up until we found them. Our adoption only cost us $5,000.00 + $650 in attorney fees. Yes it is true. If your would like more info please feel free to email me a t ____@____.com and I will give you the info.

Have a bless day

Congraduations on your decision to foster/adopt! I highly encourage adoption. I think its a great way to give American children a better life. (I do not support foreign adoption)Have you also looked into surrogacy? Surrogacy is a little on the expensive side but it can give you a child you really want, biologically. Also, I love that you are thinking about about fostering children. I live in White County and I was speaking with a lady about fostering a child or two a few months ago (not quite ready yet but I will be soon enough) and she said that the hardest part about adopting arkansas children is the paperwork, not the cost. Here is a website for the Arkansas requirements. Don't forget to check with your local DHHS for further information.

Please don't look overseas when there are so many children here who need your love.
