Has anyone adopted a pet recently in the Chicago area? I have been looking on-line and haven't had much luck.

What can I do next?

My friend's parents adopted a puppy from PAWS about 6 months ago. www.paws.org

We got our dog last April from the Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge. There is also a location at 62nd and Wabash. It was a very easy experience and they had a ton of animals.

Have you checked out the Humane Society? They have a huge building in Chicago. Someone I knew got a kitten from there.

Have you tried Kay's Animal Shelter in Arlington Hts.? (It is located on Arlington Hts. Rd and Hintz Rd. ) They allow people to view the animals from Tues.-Sat. until around 4:00.
We have been in there to donate cat and dog food a few times, and each time we've gone in I have seen clean cages and the animals look healthy. They have an outside fenced in area to take the animal to if you want to play with him/her.

Good luck, and thanks for adopting a homeless animal!

Where do you live? Chicago Ridge (southwest suburb) has an very large shelter with many, many cats and dogs. My sister got her wonderful dog there last year.
