I use to work on an ambulance. We used activated charcoal for poisonings and overdoses following oral ingestion. It is suppose to bind to the poison and keep it from being absorbed in the intestines. I have never heard of it being used for nausea. It is the body's hormones levels during pregnancy that cause nausea. Activated charcoal does not affect hormone levels. I do not see how activated charcoal would be effective for morning sickness. I would definetly ask your OB/GYN about it before trying it. Activated charcoal will not make you vomit, but will make your stool black. I don't know how much absorbtion occurs in the stomach. It may absorb good things too, like nutrients and calcium that a pregnant body needs. So if used frequently your body may not get every thing it needs. I would definitely talk to your doctor first. Ginger ale and ginger candy(lolli pops) worked for me.
