Hi A. -
I have not used the acai berry alone, but it is in the juice we drink. What I, and most ladies that I know, have noticed is that the juice completely eliminates cravings. For the first time in my life, I am in control of food rather than food being in control of me. In my first year of drinking it, I lost weight without even thinking about it - it was so nice to be liberated from those sugar cravings! And, I don't know about you, but I always followed sugar with something salty.
The other benefits are that you are getting the proven antioxidant protection of 13 commonly eaten fruits and vegetables (great if you or your kids don't get at least 5-10 fruits and vegetables a day) and in the process, you'll find more stamina and better focus. Look for freeze-dried acai on the label - if it doesn't say it is freeze-dried then you are getting very little of the nutritional value of the acai.
I have done a ton of research on this subject and I do a small coffee at my house on Tuesday mornings specifically for moms about why they and their kids need to eat enough fruits and vegetables, what to look for when they shop, and on the acai in particular. Some decide to go to the store to buy what they need and some decide to drink the juice daily in addition to eating more fruits and vegetables. PM me if you want the details on the coffee - everyone is welcome and you will surely learn something new. I'm anxious for you to try it to see if you also feel liberated from food!

Ps - you just got great advice from the other Mom's - do ask for the science - an independent human study on the one I use was published in the prestigious Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. Also, although you can find acai products else where, remember that the nutritional content of the acai diminshes rapidly after harvesting. There is a wonderful book by Dr. Alex Schauss that shows the values of acai - freezedried is by far the best.
