The only diet that I have actually seen work for anyone I know is NutraSystem. I have a couple of friends that have been very successful with this change in their eating. They have kept the weight off for years.
I am struggling with 30 pounds of extra weight I have gained since my 1st child back in 2005. I now have a toddler and an infant to take care of and working out and eating right is challenging. I've researched online but all I get is advertisments that look like testimonials. The cost is 60 a bottle and requires an automatic payment (alittle suspect). One other very important factor is that I'm still nursing but will probably be weining very soon. If anyone can help, please give me some insight.

After being diagnosed with a serious illness, I read a book written by a man who spoke to all of the top nutritionists in the country about health, diet and exercise and he said almost all of them came down to this: "Eat. Not too much. Mostly plants."
He also discovered that a lot of them recommended something called the Mediterranean Diet. You can find out more about it at: www.mayoclinic.com.
I'm trying to lose the baby weight too! Good luck.
Hi C.!
Its funny you should ask about this. My husbands karate instructor sells the Acai juice (mona vie) and has been trying to talk my husband into selling it. Now my husband is one to delve deep into research before doing anything. He basically came up with nothing. Its basically a juice full of anti oxidants. It wont help you lose weight. IF you really want to try it Costco sells acai juice for MUCH cheaper. Really the only diet that ever worked for me was the diabetes diet. Low carb, high protein. I have a three month old baby and I am already well below my pre pregnancy weight thanks to the diabetes diet. I hope you get some answers and find what works for you! Good luck!

I used something called "Trim Body System" OMG!!!! it actually worked and it has STAYED OFF!!! I got it at place called flirtwithhealth.com (referred this site by a friend and still order from them regularly with NO issues)
I think the even have a 6 month money back guarantee but dont quote me...check it out for yourself

I've never tried the Acai diet. But I can tell you that there are nutritional weight loss systems that are backed up by solid science and are approved for use while nursing. One that I used to lose 15 lbs (that I was able to keep off in between babies #2 and #3) is put out by Shaklee. I used their Cinch line and was totally impressed by how easy it was to use, how great I felt, that I never felt deprived or hungry, and that I did not need to worry about wrecking my own metabolism while dieting like most diets. Can't recommend Shaklee's Cinch program highly enough!
Hi C.,
As many have already said, acai is an anti-oxidant. Anti-oxidants are great for cell health, immune system, etc, but it is only one piece of the whole picture. The best way to eat is balanced diet, following the new food pyramid, mostly fruits and vegetables, some whole grains and some protein. Someone referred to the "diabetes" diet. This is a low glycemic diet eating foods that do not spike your blood sugar. When your blood sugar keeps a nice even cycle, your insulin levels work properly, which allows the cells (particularly in the abdomen area) to release fat, and you lose weight naturally. Of course, this is done in conjunction with moderate exercise, like walking everywhere.
Dr. Ray Strand, an M.D. has an effective program for weight loss, his Healthy for Life lifestyle change. His website, www.releasingfat.com , is full of facts and science about eating low glycemic, has recipes, tables with the glycemic index of everything, and journaling to help you keep yourself honest and motivated on your weight loss program. (It also helps cut your cholesterol levels -- which is why I did it.) There are also some shakes and snack bars from Usana Health Sciences that Dr. Strand recommends as low glycemic meal replacements. They really work; no cravings; taste good; great when you don't want to cook. Get in touch with me, if you would like to know more about Usana or get preferred pricing.
Good luck with whatever balanced approach you choose.

If you need to rely on a bottle of something it probably will not work. Acai is not a wonder berry, there are no answers in a bottle. You have to change the way you eat. Try a bool called The Slight Edge. It is not a diet book but a book about small changes that shape your life. You are looking to develop a life style that is healthy and an example to your children. I use a product called Carb Blockers before I eat, it blocks carbs from being digested. It is not about eating what I want, it is about making decisions before I eat. Don't go for a wonder drug, what I use has a money back gaurantee, is organic and backed by a company that is 50 years old.
Try the book. Make decisions.
Hi C., my husband and I have been doing The Flat Belly Diet from Prevention Magazine for a few weeks. It's been fun - we can have nuts, avocado, chocolate, sunflower seeds - all our favorites - he's lost 16 pounds and I've lost 7! I've lost 2 inches from my waist, 2 from my abdomen and 2 from my hips! My husband needs to wear a belt to keep his pants up, and he fits into clothes that he hasn't worn in years. He can even slip his wedding band on! It is a LOT of food - especially the first 4 days. The recipes are delicious, healthy and quick to make. We started the week before Thanksgiving! So all during the holidays, all the parties and all the times we cheated - we still lost weight! We keep meaning to start working out - the only exercise we get is pushing our daughter around the block - and yet the inches keep disappearing!
Dear C.,
All weightloss is accomplished by reducing food intake and increasing physical activity. I've been a professional dieter my entire life. You name it I've tried it. Some worked for a few weeks, most did not help stablize or sustain the loss and often I gain all of it back plus more.
I was given two hours to live 3 years ago Thanksgiving. With the help of the Hospice Dietian, she helped me to lose 144 pounds over a 29 month period. I kept yo-yoing the last 40 pounds until my friend introduced me to a formula that helps reduce Leptin which controls how your fat is stored. I have since stablized my 144 pound lose and finally gone on to safely lose an additional 38 pounds in 12 short weeks. I've also lost over 11 inches off my waist. If you would like to learn how I did it:
http://www.FitAndFatFree4ever.com
I still have 156 more pounds to lose and for the first time in my life, I know I will.
Good Luck, F.
I have not tried the Acai Diet But I understand about not being able to work out with 2 little ones at home.
Something that worked for me that I lost my baby weight is I walked everywhere with the kids in the stoller.I mean everywhere. (That year I lived in shorts, tees and tennis shoes.) That is a work out pushing 2 children lots of places. We went to the zoo lots and pushing up those hills was quite a work out plus it's getting the kids out for an outing. Also any mommy and me classes that meet at the park is great for you and the toddler and you can take the baby. Exercise for both. Just make the outings part of your routine. We went on outings or class 3 times a week. If you live in the San Diego area there are mommy and me classes through the community college. You don't meet there it's elsewhere costs minimal and is fun. I still have friends from those classes some 14 years later. Make sure you start your morning with a healthy breakfast and drink lots of water. Pack the kids and yourself a lunch. Make a good dinner. The extra trick for me now is absolutely no snacking. You might need some healthy snacks since you're still nursing(celery,apples,100 calorie granola bars etc. If you set your mind that this is fun for you and the kids and keep busy with these physical outings it will help. On days you don't have mommy and me classes take the dog if you have one and the kids for a walk, or walk to the store, mall, park closet to you, walk the beach boardwalks,Misson Bay has a nice one. Friday was our zoo day, mommy indoor class was t&th.Outdoor class was Wed. They are only half days so you have time to do house chores and naps when you get home. They have an indoor class and an outdoor class avail. You;ll feel good and see results. Good Luck D. G.
The only thing that truly works and lasts is to change your lifestyle- diet is life, not something you 'go on' and 'go off'. Put that $60 toward a great pair of workout shoes, and take walks with your children in their stroller every single day, even the days you don't feel like it. Exercise, healthy food, plenty of water, and loving relationships will keep you healthy and happy for your whole life- Give it time and stick with it, and you will get there! There is no 'quick fix', and anything that seems suspect, probably is.
Hi! I buy frozen acai from Sprouts, and it's a lot cheaper than $60 bucks! However, I don't know if it'll help you with loosing weight. One thing I recommend though, is drinking Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. I buy mine at Sprouts too, but I've seen it at Albertson's. Research it online. It worked for me alongside a balanced diet. Good luck!
I have never tried the Acai diet but I am a distributor for Monavie a high antioxidant health beverage with the main ingredient being Acai along with 18 other fruits and berries. I would be glad to give you a bottle or two to try for free and if you like it I will sit down with you and tell you how to get it for whole sell and not pay the expensive retail price.
My website's below. Feel free to e-mail me either through my website or through Mamasource if you would like me to bring you some free bottles. We can share phone numbers through a private e-mail. I am also a Mom of young ones. My oldest is 5 and youngest is 2. It can be hard.
Take care,
D.

Hey
I havent actually tried it but i did a lot of research and it sseems cool. it was also on oprah so if u go on her website you can get some more info. i have tried green tree supplements and they work.
it seems to me like diets like that one are just excuses for people to be lazy and anorexic, by the ads saying that only that one thing and very little of it and then that you dont have to exercise to get results. some people may have results but so many others dont, everyones bodies are different. i have looked into those and they do seem like a scam just to make you give more money to these evil and greedy companies.
i had been trying different ways of losing weight for over six years (since my first son) and i found that for my body type exercise is crucial! but i always do try to eat right and trust me, i know its hard! but living in santa barbara for three years really helped because almost everyone i knew ate super healthy and knew so much about food, a lot of them were vegetarians and vegans. for me having a healthy pescetarian diet (where you arent completely vegetarian but the only meat you eat is fish) worked wonders, but if you cant do that then i know that weight watchers has actually worked extremely well for quite a few of my friends with very different body types.
beginners yoga is a great way to start the exercise routine if you arent used to a lot of movement, plus it stretches out your body and muscles and you will be so relaxed! i loved it, i couldnt afford to take the classes so i rented a yoga dvd from our library, they also have mom and me yoga that you can do with your babies toddlers and older children!
i hope this helped!
I ordered it online and it was a disaster. Did you go on the site for the free trial? I ended up not only getting charged after 2 weeks 80.00 for it because somewhere in small print there was a deadline. Not only after I finally got a hold of them to cancel and reverse charges. I started to notice other charges on my credit card. One was for 19.95 for a place called fit factory and another later from Pricesavers for 8.51. They are saying when I agreed for the free trial for Acai that I also agreed to a free trial to the Fitfactory & pricesavers site. Read very carefully before you do this. I took it for two weeks and saw no results so I stopped taking it. Check the Better buisness site on the company before you do anything.
Hi there,
I'm living in Brazil, where Acai is from, and no one here does Acai diets. While very healthy, Acai also has a lot of natural fats and a fair amount of calories.
Just try to consume less calories than you are spending. Don't be drastic because of the breast feeding. Go to www.self.com and print up their little at home workouts. I did that with my first born when I couldn't get out of the house to workout. I'm 38 weeks along with my second and have a 2 yr old. I'll very soon understand your situation (especially since I've put on 40lbs this time!) It sucks. I feel that being physically fit and back to my pre-birth weight. Anyway, the self workouts are what I'm planning on doing and eating a bit lighter. Oh and drink a lot of water.
Acai is a great food and a big energy giver. It's a great thing to eat after working out :)
Don't waste your money on diets or expensive supplements. The diet industry wants you to believe that the only way to lose weight is to follow their diets. But the people who created the diets and diet aids did so because they wanted to make money preying on people who want a quick fix.
As Autumn said, spend that $60 on good walking shoes. The only way to lose weight and keep it off is a combination of changing your diet and exercising. Make the changes slowly. For example, gradually substitute water for soda or carrot sticks for chips. Also decrease your portion sizes slightly (5-10%). Start off with short walks with your kids in the stroller and gradually increase the time/distance. You can also do little things like take stairs instead of elevators or park a little farther away from the stores at the mall. The weight will come off slower than with a fad diet. But it will stay off. You can allow yourself some of your favorite junk foods; just do so in smaller quantities.
One reason diets fail is because people try to make too many sudden changes at once. Then they go back to their old eating habits and the weight comes right back on. You wouldn't suddenly cut your baby off from the breast. Of course not, you wean him or her. The same principle applies for introducing healthier foods and exercise and cutting out the junk foods.
Good luck with your weight loss.
I'm sure the benefits of Acai are great, but nothing beats exercise and mental health. Unfortunately, moms are so deprived of both, right? There's a gal in San Diego that helps moms with both. www.FitBySara.com She is a therapist and yoga instructor. She's all about the body and mind working together for a healthier lifestyle. I think she has DVDs that you can purchase for home use. And just like everyone always says, quick fixes don't work. Just look at Oprah... ouch!
Eating right and exercise is the only way it is going to come off and stay off. Put those kids in a stroller and start walking. Lay on your back and give "leg rides". I do use V8 Acai to make smoothies in the morning, but that is it. Remember, what you model now will be how your children eat and exercise later.
That sounds too expensive. I have a bunch of friends who sell Mona Vie (Acai juice) and it's like 45$ a bottle.
Hi C., are you talking about Monavie? If you are, it truly is worth the money. Cleans out the body, gives you energy, etc.
However, if you're struggling losing weight, go see your doctor first. Many women post partum, end up with a thyroid problem, hypothyroid or low functioning. Which means it's not working right. It happened to me and once I got my levels normal, I started feeling better and lost the weight. I also have a good friend that has a little girl who is almost 2 and she still hasn't been able to lose weight. And she's a healthy and active person. The doctor said, some women while nursing, won't lose weight till after they stop. So get checked first and make sure that physically all is ok.
Good luck.
Costco has Acai Berry with blueberry. You get 2 1 liter bottles for $9.99. It taste really good. I drink 1oz 2times a day. Not sure about the weight benefits, but I drink it for the antioxidants. I need to lose weight too. It is very hard. I would not do those free trials, I did and ended up with multiple charges for some fit factory thing, and other junk. I think it is a scam. I have three boys, and I swear I still have weight from my almost 11 year old. I totally understand where your coming from. Good luck to you!!
I have not done the acai diet but I am a distributor for MonaVie and over the last 9 months of drinking it, I have lost 25 pounds. I am hoping to lose a little more but was excited to not have to change my whole diet in order to do that much.
Feel free to contact me and I would love to share the product with you.
I don't know where you are buying your bottles, but go online, you can find it for $39 a bottle.
Acai is healthy, but doubt it will cause you to lose weight. It will keep you regular with your bowels and that may help you lose weight. But the best way to lose weight is eat right and take your children for a walk in a stroller. You are at the absolutely hardest time of child rearing as to your own health and sanity. Physically, two that young is soooo hard. Relax, stress is not good for any of you in your family. love your husband and children and the weight will work itself out.
this diet does not work..... you need to eat a balanced diet of healthy food and exercise... I am a distributor for Mona-vie which has the acai berry in it and while I love this product it is not a diet aid, it is a healthy alternative to other forms of nutrients.
any diet that claims to drop 20lbs or more in mere weeks should be a red flag and you will gain it back. because you didnt make lifestyle changes to improve your well being.
JMO,
B.
I just bought some Acai juice at my local health food store (Rainbow Acres). They also had it in a powder and capsule form from a company called Sambazon which you can find and buy from on-line (Sambazon.com). I just drank my first of three ounces for the day and it tasted OK. I saw the on-line testimonials and offers from other companies selling their free trials as well, but then I also read how many people bought into this and then felt it was all a scam. My advice is try to find it in a local health food store or order directly from Sambazon as to avoid any scams with automatic credit card charges. Hope this helps.
