i just had my baby a week ago and have lower abdominal pains at times. is this normal? this is my 3rd, easy labor, but i dont remember this with the others. its not like after pains or anything, and its not really bad pain, its just there. i had a fever the other day for about 24 hours, but its been normal since, so i would think if i had an infection, the fever wouldnt have left so quickly. maybe im doing too much? i feel pretty good so have been doing everything just like when im not pregnant, but im wondering if thats the problem. thanks for any thought!

Um, if you just had the baby a week ago you probably shouldnt be doing TOO much just yet. It's probably after pains, but since this is your third child the pain is a little different.
I'd be careful and rest a little though, all of your innerds are all loose and need to find their proper place once again. Being up all day and lifting things and such is probably not the best thing you can do for yourself just yet. It's great that you feel good, just dont over do it..... it probably will catch up with you. Your body is telling you to rest, listen to it Mom.

Since you had a fever you very well might have a little bit of a UTI. Usually w/ UTI's you will feel some pressure in your lower abdomen. I had UTI's after both my pregnancies and am expecting another one after the birth of this one too.

With my youngest, I had cramps and sometimes it was bad. It was my uterus going back to normal and since I breastfed, the cramps came up mostly right after. They lasted about 4 or 5 weeks.

If you had a fever above 100.4 less than a week after giving birth, you should have reported it to your doctor. Are you breastfeeding? Most nursing moms have some afterbirth contractions especially while the baby is at the breast, and they do become more pronounced with each baby.
