Normally, pediatricians suggest 6 months.
Have you talked to yours about this?
Are you having a ceremony?

Namaste
Generally wait until the baby is 6 months and able to sit , hold head up before you perform annaparshan. Your priest can provide a muhurat. Cereal , rice may not be the best first food. avocado banana may be a better choice.
There is some recent info suggesting that beginning first foods while the child is still bfing may reduce their risk of allergies. You should speak to your pediatrician about when the best time to introduce solid foods is. Also - cereal may not be the best first food - although it is traditional. Here is a schedule:

Some babies will be fine trying solid food at 6 months.
Others won't do well with it for quite awhile.
My son didn't really take to solid food till almost his first birthday but then he quickly went from stage one baby food, skipped stage two and began devouring stage three.
There's no reason to rush as long as he's getting plenty of breast milk or formula.
when you & your dr both agree on the first cereal feeding.
Today, most drs recommend 6 months. 5-10 years ago it was 4 months.
& 20 years ago, my sons were given cereal by 1 month. Unheard of in today's times....
