MY 21 MONTH OLD HAS A SET OF TWIN BOYS IN HIS CLASS OF 13 CHILREN. ONE OF THE TWINS WAS DIAGNOSED WITH LUEKEMIA THIS PAST FRIDAY. (HE LEFT SCHOOL WITH A FEVER AND AN ASSUMED EAR INFECTION).HE STARTED TREATMENT YESTERDAY, HE IS NOT EVEN 2 YEARS OLD YET. AS PARENTS, WE ARE ALL DEVASTATED TO HEAR THIS. I AM THE ROOM MOTHER AND WOULD LIKE TO COLLECT A FEW DOLLARS FROM EACH PARENT AND DO SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR THIS FAMILY. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? THIS FAMILY CONSISTS OF MOM, DAD, 4 YEAR OLD SISTER AND THE TWIN BOYS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD DO. THANKS, M.

What can I do next?

One great thing would be to purchase dinners for them or arrange dinner deliveries for certain nights of the week. I am sure that between treatments, hospitals, etc, having one less thing to worry about would be great.

I don't know if you have one near your home, but check out Dream Dinners (www.dreamdinners.com), several of you could go make meals for them that they could then just pull out and cook. There are several other types of these services available if you don't have a dream dinners near you. I would think that not having to think about meals every day would be a huge help.

Depending on how much you raise, what about someone to help around the house, cleaning, doing laundry, etc. I don't know how hectic the treatment schedule is, but I would think any type of this help would be greatly appreciated too.

I think it depends on how much you raise and if you're looking for a place to make a donation, that's one thing...If you're looking for a day out, or to get them tickets somewhere is another. Which way were you thinking about?

Hi M.

My name is A.. I just read your story and I would like to help. Me and my boyfriend are both photographers. We were thinking of maybe visiting his school and taking a group picture of his class that we later can enlarge and put in the hospital.

Let me know what you think.

Thank you. A.
