A Mom with Cancer Needs Babysitting/DayCare Help

Is there anyone or any organization in the Tulsa area
that can assist me in taking care of my son? He will
be 1 on April 4th. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's
Lymphoma and am currently going through tests and
treatment. My husband is currently looking for a full
time job to help with the medical bills and I am
working as much as possible.

I can't stand the thought of putting my son in a
daycare in Tulsa. Forgive me for profiling, but 6
daycares were shut down in Tulsa last year and I know
of at least 1 that has been shut down this year.

I'm not looking for daycare from 8am to 5pm. Just
assistance when I am too tired or sick from treatment.

Is there any help out there for parents that do not
have help from their families?

Always,

L.

Lynn,

First of all, our family will pray for yours. I also don't have family anywhere around here. But even with all that stress is, you have a husband looking for work and a horrible illness. I am a stay at home mom after I got laid off his May. We scaled back some and decided for me to stay home with our 2 year old little girl. We are around 61st & Memorial and attend Victory Christian Center. I would be more than glad to watch your son when you had treatments, etc. for no charge. Due to all my children (17, 10, and 2), I would need to watch him in my home. But we have a privacy back yard for him to play and all the age appropriate toys he could image. Some might be pink though..ha! You are not alone and there is people in your community to help. And know God can heal you......He still does it everyday. :)

Don't know if it's soon enough or not, but there's a way to find sitters to meet your needs called mommymixer. You can speck them out on mommymixer.com to see if it might help you. :-) Blessings.

L., I would check with churches near your home, or your church, that have mothers day out programs. Mothers day out programs or daycares out of churches usually have a drop off time about 9am and pick up about 3pm. A few years ago I had an aunt who was very sick her youngest child who was 1 at the time needed to be in a mothers day out program, she went to one in a local church. Once they heard about my aunts situation, they were able to waive the tuition for my cousin. Plus child care programs run through churches are usually very reputable. Good luck.
