Hello! I'm going to start working a few days week and I need to find a daycare to take my daugther to. She's 2 1/2yrs old, very active, very intelligent and very demanding. I'm always concerned about how other people will deal her attitude. She's been at home with me for a little over a year. I'm worried about her being sick all of the time also, so cleanliness is definitly a priority. Any suggestions on a great, affordable daycare, with the children's safety and education in mind in the east/midtown Tulsa area would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you qualify for Headstart then there is no other place than a Community Action Project/Family & Children Services school. They are nationally known for their Early Childhood Programs. Oklahoma is leadiing the way thanks to CAP. They have sites throughout Tulsa. For information on enrolling you can contact www.fcsok.org. For general overview go to www.captc.org.

Hope this helps.

I take my daughter (18 mo. old) to Faith Preschool at Faith United Methodist Church. She is there 2 days a week from 9:30 to 2:30 and loves it. A lot of local churches have programs like these and "Mothers Day Out" which is usually cheaper than day care and more educational. They play outside, have playtime, do artwork, learn songs and colors and sharing and social skills. They are great with her and she can be high maintenance too, though she is a joy. She has been sick once, but any time you put your kid (who is used to being at home) in any situation with lots of other children, there is that risk. It does help their immune system to build up though. They also offer 3 days a week and there are about 8-10 kids in her class and 2 teachers.

I know it is in south Tulsa, but I love the daycare I send my 8 month old to. Shining Through Learning Center, it is at 93rd and Sheridan. I also have a friend that highly recomends St. Dunstins (sp?) off of 71st street. It is a church daycare that is from 9:30am-2:30pm. If I didn't work full time I would send my son there. But for a full time daycare. I am super happy with STLC. You can look them up online at www.stlckids.com.
