J., if you are birth control pills, patch, etc., it could be that you are now needing something stronger. I was on the same pill for years and then started break through bleeding like that. An IUD can cause the same thing. Otherwise, I'd definitely make an appt.

Some 40+ years ago this happened to me. Went to he doctor, he checked to see if I was pregant, said no, gave me some meds told me to come back in 2 weeks, checked again to see if I was pregant and sure enough I was. Had a big healthy baby boy.

Hi J.,

There's nothing to worry about. Your period didn't really, end on Monday. Sometimes, especially in months with 31 days, such as January, the monthly cycle lasts 7 days or more.

There is also a chance that your body is experiencing changes. (Smile, not change of life or menepause)

May the LORD JESUS CHRIST bless you and your beautiful family! If He is not yet Lord of your life yet, ask Jesus to save you and your loved ones today. The day you do so, will be the first, and best day of the rest of your life.

Could you have a urinary tract infection? Other symptoms might be painful urination, urgency, frequency... I would definitely get checked out by a doc... your family doc can probably diagnose you. Good luck.

Call your OB - you can even just have a nurse call you so she can tell you if she thinks you need to come in for an appointment.

When ever there is a health issue, it is always good to check with your Dr. - -especially if it is GYN related (to many differnt possible serious things happen down there.

With that said, I have often found myself with a "lingering period". . . the real thing ends and for a few more days to a week there is just a little to "wipe away", not even what could be called spotting. I did ask my Dr. about it and she said (both family and GYN)it is just your body changing (sorry that should be getting older) your systme doesn't clear everything like it use to and therefore you get "clumps" or "sort of spotting".

Probably not a reason to freak out, but as I said, it is always better to be safe and make an appointment or at least a phone call to someone who has your history/file. . . might mean an extra Dr. bill, but will also mean less stress and worry (which could also be a reason).

As with the possibilities below, I would also get checked for a UTI, or kidney or bladder infection. Just because you are not seeing it in the toilet with your urine, doesn't mean there are not traces of it. I have had 3 bladder infections, all with no symptoms.

It might be an early sign of a bladder infection. The same thing happened to me.

I would call the dr. immediately. You do not want a bladder infection. They are horrible.

Ok J. I thought I was the only one that has this problem!!! I have been going through this for about a year and have been to 2 drs.Neither one can find a problem! I have had normal paps and all test came back normal so he switched my birthcontrol pills. That helped for about a month but started again! I am also bleeding during intercourse now, its so frustrating!!! So I would say go to your dr. And rule out all things it could be first then maybe a birthcontrol would help you out! Good luck J., I know what your going through!!

I have heard of people spotting a little when they ovulate. Maybe it is that.

Have you isolated the exact source of the blood? It might sound like a silly question, but there's a lot going on down there. Maybe there's a tear somewhere from intercourse that's a little rough (as someone suggested) or maybe it's how you sit or wipe that's applying pressure or creating friction. I have a condition that causes me to sometimes bleed rectally, and I was really scared before I was diagnosed. Is it possible that it's coming from a little bit further back? (I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but--like i said--there's a lot going on down there.)

There are a couple of possibilities. One is rough sex. Sometimes I get little tears inside when DH gets a little rough. I don't feel any pain, and it clears up in a day or so. I know, TMI, but it is one cause.
My other first thought was that some women experience a little spotting when the embryo is implanted into the womb. Could you be pregnant?
Do you have any pain?

to be specific, is it bright red or diluted in the urine you are wiping? My first instinct was that you are experiencing the beginning of a UTI. That requires antibiotics or you could try changing the acidity of your urine with massive amounts of cranberry juice. If it looks bright red, then that is something different entirely. Either way, I would take a quick trip to your OB and get it checked.
