This is just a tiny bit west of you, but WELL worth the drive...I highly recommend Beth Black at Essential Image...she is just west of I-35 off of 87th St...I went to her w/my hair in a bad state after a VERY bad cut several years back and she totally fixed it and helped me grow it into a better style. She is great at looking at your hair and visualizing what cut will make it look its best and enhance your features. Melanie, at Blades Salon. It is located at I-435 and Roe in Overland Park. I don't think that is too far from you. She is part owner in the salon and my mother and I both have been going to her for years and never had a bad haircut. (or color, for that matter). She is a very nice person with 2 little twin boys of her own so we love to compare notes! She is a lot of fun and if you explain to her what you want your hair to do, she goes out of her way to give you what you want. I have never been disappointed yet.

My hair dresser is amazing! I looked for a very long time and I am extremely picky when it comes to my mane. Sarah at Shay Belle on Shawnee Mission Parkway and Hilltop is Awesome! There is a place about 95th and Nall called Alquemie Salon. It's right next to Sushi Gin. They use Aveda products (which I just love and are good for the envioronment)!
I drive all the way from Brookside just to go there! My stylist name is Yelonda and she is great!

I have always been very nervous about getting my hair cut and would usually just trim it myself since I did not trust anyone else to do it! I finally found Nicole at Beauty Brands on State Line & 135th St. It may be a bit of a drive for you but she is SO good. Not the typical young hair stylist you may expect at a place like that. The hours are very flexible and she grew up with three generations of stylists. Most of her childhood was in the salon. She has a BA in Psychology and practiced for a few years but quickly was burnt out. She LOVES being a hairstylist and you can tell by her talent. I made the mistake once of not waiting until she worked and I lost 8 inches of my hair and was left with something a 4 year old might do! I was devastated! I immediately called the manager and they had Nicole do it for free! She fixed it so that I LOVED the short do and I have had so many compliments about it. People say they love my hair short better than long. She is good. That is all I can say.

one of my best friends is a stylist at chop tops. It is at merriam lane and johnson drive. I am super picky about my hair and totally trust her. The place has sort of a rockabilly theme so dont let that scare you off. Her name is Sarah W. the # is 362chop. Very cheap too. I think its like 30 for a cut.

You need a trip to the Country Club Plaza! It is a little ways from you but it sounds like you could use the time alone. ( : I go to Beauty Brands and my hairdresser is Janie. She is awsome & I am very picky! Forget the Aveda salons! I get much better service at Beauty Brands and their prices can't be beat. Only $28 for a haircut. Afterwards you can always go shopping! ( :
