I would take one short nap any day if my son would sleep for 12 hrs at night. :O)
hi there!
Just wondering if anyone has had their 9 month old go down to 1 (short) nap a day. My son took 2 (long) naps until he was 18 months, so this is new to me.
She sleeps about 12 hours at night and about 45-60 minutes during the day.

My son is 8 months and he does the same thing. On the rare occassion he will sleep for an hour or so during the day but it's not usual. At this age I just think they keep going and going and going...
Having raised three generations of children two of which were my own and one granddaughter I can share my experience with sleeping. In the morning, my daughter who was 11 years younger than her late brother - used to wake up at 6am for her bottle. I then used to bathe and dress her - and by 10AM she was in her English Coach - no matter what the weather was - in the fresh air - where she slept for about an hour and a half to two hours. I found that fresh air is very beneficial - for children. She was not a sleepy head like her brother. He would sleep on a picket fence after devouring his bottles as an infant. Hope this helps. Glo
Hi M.,
My name is J. and I have a 19mo old baby boy. Ever since my son was 5mo he has been taking just 1 nap a day. He would take an 1 nap a day and then fall asleep at 8:00pm til 7:00am next morning. I guess it really depends on the child. I have a friend who also has a 19mo old who takes 2 naps a day. For some reason I thought something was really wrong w/ my son. Overall, based on my baby's pediatrician, all kids are different. Some just tend to sleep more than others.
Dear M. (are you any way Czech?) I think you are very lucky, the sleep hours and nap time seem absolutely normal to me for a 9 month old boy. Children, like grownups are different and have different needs. Regards, Hanna in Florida
My daughter dropped to one afternoon nap at 10 months. Look at it as more time to do stuff outside the home with the kids!

Yes. Unfortunately, some babies only take one nap during the day. My 9-month-old nephew was over on Sunday, and he only takes a short snooze in the afternoon. My daughter (now four) was like that too, but as she got older and more active, her nap got longer. She still naps for about an hour every day. Thank God!
