Mine was 18 months but all kids are different. Mine told me he was ready by taking a normal morning nap followed by a terribly short afternoon nap. :)
Just wondering when babies usually stop taking two naps?

I think it depends on the child. My daughter is 18 months and still needs two naps most days. But, I've had other moms tell me that their child decided to stop taking naps all together at her age.
It really depends on the baby, but I've read anywhere from 12 to 18 months. All my kids were between 14 and 16 months. The important thing to remember is that you will need to make the one nap earlier then the 2nd nap. With my first two (they were twins) I thought we would just drop the morning nap and go down at 1:00..what was I thinking? The first few days were a disaster. Then I realized I needed to do their one nap much ealier. We started about 11:00 and eventually over a couple of months got it back to 1:00. Good luck. It is a transition, but I must say I really liked it once we got on a routine of one nap. Gave us more flexiblity to do stuff and the one nap became much longer over time...from about 1 1/2 hours when taking two naps to one nap from 2 to 3 hours!!!
My son goes to daycare and when he moved to the 12-18 month group at 12 months they moved him to one nap a day. He stays asleep for 2.5-3 hours. At first, halfway through the week he would be really tired. On the weekend he still takes two 1.5 hour naps, so I think that is proof you can push them toward one long nap if you need to, as long as you can tolerate a little crankiness while you keep them up. The daycare copes with the crankiness by giving him food and keeping him busy for the extra 2 hours.
Every child is different. My daughter transitioned to one nap around 9 months old and my now almost 9 month old son is still taking 3 naps on most days.
When I moved my daughter to just one nap per day I remember it becoming more and more difficult to get her down for that 2nd nap and it kept moving later and later in day so at a certain point we just had to cut it out.
My son is 20 months and stopped this month - for the last 2 or 3 months he was taking 2 naps at home but only 1 at daycare. Slowly it was 2 every once in a while - now it is just down to one. He has lunch around 11 and is usually down by 12 or 12:30 and sleeps for a good 2 1/2-3 hours. It's a longer morning for me, but we have gotten used to it!
Usually around a year of age. Some will need an extra nap from time to time after that, but by the time they are 18 months, one nap a day is fairly routine.
Greetings SH: I am sorry to say that all of my 5 children stopped with 2nd naps by the time they were 14 months. My sweet granddaughter stopped at about 11 months. This also means that they were very ready for bed early and I had to be organized so they didn't get a second wind and get over tired. Believe me I have one Grandchild that is my "curious george" and everything is so onteresting that he doesn't have time to sleep!
Sorry- I am sure not the news you hoped for. NanaG
Mine both dropped their morning naps around 14 months. Moved up their afternoon nap to noon and they went to bed nicely around 6 or 7pm. I agree it depends on the child, but it also depends on what time you put them down at night and how much sleep they get during the night.
Everyone's different. I dont remember when my son stopped his 2nd nap but it was somewhere around/after he turned 1 I think. However, he quit taking naps altogether at 2 3/4 years old. He has a friend who only finally stopped taking 3 hours naps when he was 5 1/2 yo!!!!
You may find that one day they go without their 2nd nap, then another day they need both naps, back and forth for a little while. Or they'll not take their 2nd nap and you know they need to. Earlier bedtimes help. It's tricky and once you have their routine figured out, they grow and change on you!!!
Every child is different. My three girls stopped taking two naps around 9 months old.
It varies ... all depends on the child. My son took two naps until he was 22 months; my daughter moved to one nap at 12 months.
My son dropped to one nap just before he turned 1.
By one year it is usually one hour in the am and two hours in the pm or three hours in the pm. I like them to be up in the mornings being busy and then go down after lunch from 12-3 p.m.

Anywhere between 12 and 24 months, I read.. it varies with the baby. My son sopped needing the second nap at 15 months.
Yes, all children are different. I was lucky....my daughter took two naps until she was two years old!
My son transitioned to one nap around 20 months. Now instead of two hours long naps it is one 2 hour nap. Every child is different.
My daughter who is 14 months takes a nap 3 hours after waking up. She just gets so sleep, and she will sleep from 1 hour - 2 hours. Then around 4:00 she gets tired again and takes a nap for about 1 hour.
I think it really varies by child-- my older boy stopped around 14 months and my younger one was closer to 24-- lucky me!
All three of my kids stopped taking two naps at 14 months.
I am not sure in general. For my son who is 20 months now, it was around 9 months.
He just stayed awake all morning or the morning naps he took were shorter and shorter so I started putting him down between 12:30p -1:30pm and he sleeps for 3 hours in the afternoon.
