I didn't read other responses yet, so sorry if this is a repeat, but my little guy didn't start crawling until he was 10 months old; walked at 16 months; runs now at 22 months!
Good luck!
Hi, I have a beautiful 9 month old baby girl! She is the love and light of my life!! I am wondering when did your little ones begin to crawl? And when did they start feeding themselves? Our peanut can get up on her knees and scoot backwards just doesn't have the forward motion going yet! Just curious if that is typically at this age. And she puts everything and anything in her mouth...but when she has a puff or other type of food in her hand she just looks at it and plays. She has even gone to the extent she will guide your hand with the piece of food to her mouth but won't use her own hands. She just holds her mouth open when we get close to it with food. Is she just to smart for her britches and playing us?!! Or something else??!!
Thanks:)

Crawling is not a developmental milestone. It's typical but not required so I wouldn't worry.. oh and my 7 month old is doing the same thing. He'll roll all over to get from point A to point B and refuses to crawl.
Each baby is different, and it sounds like yours is still comfortably in the "normal" range. My son began to crawl about half-way through his 8th month, but didn't feed himself until he was 12-months old.
Every child "crawls" in their own way. My daughter slid around on her belly until she was 10 months old and then started to crawl in the traditional manner. As for feeding herself, I wouldn't worry about it. If she really wanted to, she could get that puff in her mouth!
My son is 9 1/2 months he doesnt crawl yet. Its strange cause I will find him in the crawl position in his crib and he will be rocking back and forth yet when I put him that way on the floor he falls to his belly and does push backwards a little as far as the eating goes my son just started about a week or 2 ago eating the puffs on his own.
My baby rolled, and then did what I call the "belly crawl." Just like an army man gets on his belly and used his knees to push himself forward thats what my little girl did. She finially crawled on her knees consistantly at 11 months. I thought she would never do it. It didnt last long though, she was walking at 1, and now she's 16 months and running. And MAN are toddlers fast! When you put those lil cereal puffs in their hands they play with it at first. They are learning what it is, and the texture. Mine used to love to smoosh them and hear the crunch. =)
Sounds EXACTLY like my nine-month old daughter.
I have a 9 1/2 month old non crawler too. He can get up on his hands and knees, rock ferociously (enough to move his pack and play across a room), and can scoot backwards. He's been doing this for almost a month, so I can't tell you how many times I've said, "He's so close!!!" Just a few days ago, he started lunging forward for things, but it looks more like an army crawl than anything else. The funny thing, is he can go forward on his hands and knees for two "steps" but then drops down to his belly again. He gets pretty frustrated with it all! He'll get there though, and so will your daughter (or she'll just move right onto walking).
As far as finger foods, just keep trying. Put puffs on her tray and put a few in her mouth. Eventually, when she gets one on her finger, she'll accidentally put it in her mouth. Then she'll get the idea pretty quickly.
Good luck!
my daughte is 9 months now,she started crawling good about a month ago but she did the army crawl first for a couple months.feeding herself now but when she want mommy and me time she acts like she cant feed herself and make me do it.some children do this if there parents work.but i wouldnt worry about it.all baby are differant
Each child is different. Our child did not really crawl, she scooted.
Our daughter was walking at 6 months (yes, really). And my husband walked at 6 months and only crawled for a very short time.
My mom said I scooted too and did not walk till I was exactly 1 years old. .
My son was a bit of a late bloomer with crawling. He crawled around 8/9 months. Then it took about a month and a half and all the sudden he was walking! He also did the food thing and still does. They love exploring new textures so that might be part of it. Mouths are still their primary way to explore things but hands are starting to come more into play for mushing, pinching etc. My now year old still thinks its funny to try to feed us and did the same thing around that age, so maybe that's part of what your daughter is doing with you?
