I'm 8 weeks pregnant and started spotting since the beginning of my pregnancy, so I went to my OB and he made an ultrasound and blood test, so my blood levels are going up but a little slow and the ultrasound showed a very good heartbeat, so my Dr told me that everything was fine... Yesterday I started bleeding a lot and passing clots and tissue so I thought I miscarry but I went to the ER and they made me blood test and blood test raise up again so they made me another ultrasound and it showed a very strong heartbeat, so I'm very confuse because I'm bleeding and cramping and doctors haven’t tell me what's going on with me... So I'm wondering if is possible to be miscarrying but still have a heartbeat??? I'm sad and confuse!!!

What can I do next?

I understand how scary this situation could be.. I had the similar thing happen to me when I was 8 weeks along with my first-born, I had many blood tests and ultrasounds done every week. Come to find out, I had placenta previa, and was put on bedrest for the rest of my pregnancy, till I gave birth. And considering all the issues I had with my preganancy, I had a very easy labor. So as long as the doctor is monitoring you... I think you will be just fine...
Keep the faith....

I don't think you would have a heartbeat and be miscarrying. Have you lifted anything heavier than you should have? You could have torn something and just need to rest. You could have a threatened miscarriage--in which case you need to rest as well. I'd definitely ask the doctor's what it is from and what you should do. I can't believe you went to the ER and they didn't tell you what was wrong! That's horrible. Definitely use this as an excuse to take it easy. Good luck!

I was sure I was losing my son...but I didn't! And, I bled a lot!
My son was a survivor, to be sure.
Don't know if you've seen it, but the show, "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant" has stories of women who never had a clue they were pregnant and continued to have what they believed to be periods throughout.
A strong heartbeat is a good sign.

Take good care of yourself.
All signs so far are good.

Best wishes.

Oh you poor thing, I'm sorry your going through this. I can't tell you whats wrong, but I can say, I did go through a period of spotting & bleeding with my last pregnancy, three years ago. Everything was fine, and my baby was full term & healthy. My doc said the fetus was implanting itself which was what was causing it. I don't know if this is the case for you, but just thought I'd mention. I did also have a miscarriage in the past, and it happened all at once, not over a period of time like whats happening with you. Good luck to you, I hope things get easier & less confusing.

Have them check to see if you have a subchorionic hemorrhage. It's basically a bleed behind the placenta. It can resolve or it can cause bleeding throughout the entire pregnancy. It can also have very serious consequences. Thankfully mine resolved early on with my first pregnancy.

I don't think it is possible to have a heartbeat when you miscarry.
But make sure to talk with your doctor (at least on the phone) and ask all the questions that you have. Make a list so you don't forget. Don't hesitate to ask questions thinking they may sound stupid.

And GL! I hope everything will turn out good for you.

I went through this with both of my children. It's so stressful!! With my son it was pretty devastating. I had bleeding, passed clots. Every trip to the restroom caused me tears. The doctor labeled me "threatened miscarriage" and explained there was little that could be done. I was put on pelvic rest, which basically means no sex and told to take it easy. This lasted through my first trimester. I went in for a checkup about every two weeks. They finally determined that blood was pooling in my uterus, but they never figured out why. I carried my son to term and he was as healthy as could be. With my daughter I had bleeding again, but it was not as severe and it ended after about four months. Wishing you the best!

I don't think that it is possible to have miscarriage and still have a heartbeat. Maybe you were carrying twins and not know it.

I had bleeding early on in two of my previous 5 pregnancies. Both of those babies went on to be full term and now they are happy healthy children of almost 5 and almost 3 years old. In my case the bleeding was caused by a tear in the placenta in one case (I had been out working in the garden and was beating the dirt with a shovel and I guess I was just a little too into it....), and in the other the placenta started coming away from the uterine wall (I didn't do anything to cause that one....). Both times I was put on "partial bed rest" (basically I was told not to do anything that I don't HAVE to do) and in both cases they healed on their own. Now I've just found out I'm expecting #6 and I'm trying to be careful not to do anything to cause bleeding. :)

That happened to me with every one of my boys. 4 pregnancies. I had an abrupt ed placenta. It was very scary. I also miscarried my son's twin at 12 weeks gestation. I had all my boys very early. I would say buckle down and be prepared for a rocky ride. Get off all milk products and beef, the estrogen in them can make you lose your pregnancy. Find a homeopathic physician to help you.

I am sorry you are going through this I know how scary it can be. I was 9 weeks along and same thing happened to me. I started to spot at night of course so went to ER and they did blood work and ultrasound. They also found very strong heart beat and said I had small hemorrhage that sometimes happens and they had no reason as to why just said hope it does not get worse and to take it easy. After fallow up with my doctor felt good then 2 days later bleed very heavy and thought I was losing baby. After yet another trip to ER and ultrasound again there was very strong heart beat again. I saw high risk doctor afterwards. I did spot till I was 20 weeks but other than that my pregnancy was fine. I now have a healthy very active 9 month old baby boy! I hope everything turns out for you and sounds like it will since baby has strong heart beat. Best wishes!

Hi J.,

I went through the same thing with my second pregnancy - bleeding started at 8 weeks, baby had a strong heartbeat, I had lots of bleeding, docs telling me everything was fine. I ended up miscarrying at 11 weeks. It was devasting but I know that there most likely was something wrong with the baby since each ultrasound was showing less growth then it should have - also I only wanted to have super healthy foods, like I was craving mass quantities of spinach and other veg. After I got the okay from doctors to try again, we got pregnant again within the month and at about 11 weeks with that pregnancy I woke up from a nap to find blood pouring out of my body. I thought for sure I had lost the baby but it was a subchorionic (sp) hemmorage - which I think someone has already mentioned. I was put on bed rest and it resolved itself over 2 months of bleeding like I had a period. I went in for doctor's visits weekly while it resolved. Now I have a beautiful 4 month old boy.

My thoughts are with you and I pray that like many of the women who posted before me, things will turn out well for you. Big hugs because I know exactly what you are going through.
