My son just recently started going to a home daycare one day a week. He really loves the caregiver but won't let her put him down to play with the other kids or leave the room. I am thinking it is because he isn't familiar with the house yet? HELP! Any suggestions?G

What can I do next?

I don't think there is anything you can do except let her deal with it. He only goes there one day a week, and he forgets what it's like from week to week.

I would just give him some time.

This too shall pass. Its good to hear that he's clung to the caregiver. He'll start exploring soon enough.

Good luck to you and yours,

Buy the sitter a baby sling so she can wear him till he is ready to venture forth. 8 months is a hard time for something so new. He just needs some time.

It's probably the new environment and only going one day a week he doesn't have a chance to become familiar with it. If there is some way you can go over to the caregiver's house one afternoon and spend an afternoon there WITH your baby, it might help.

I would definitely give it some time. There may be some tears, but he will soon learn that he is in a safe and caring environment.

Best of Luck!
