Time for sippy cups. Avent has some great softer spout ones that were great for transitioning to sippy cups. They are not like the nipple type that the cheaper nuby cups have. Definately time for them tough if he's biting through nipples.
Hi i was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to do with a 8 month old biting thru his bottle nipples. He only has 2 bottom teeth (razor sharp) and i am noticing he is biting the nipples until the milk/juice etc pours out. I have used Playtex, Gerber and Avent. He hasnt swallowed any pieces as i check constantly now that i relized what he was doing. So my question is: Has anyone gone thru this and any suggestions for nipples that are baby teeth tough!

My daughter did the exact same thing... time to get rid of the bottles! Use just at bed time if needed. They make great 1st cups. Good luck.

I never had that problem thank God. My son nursed for 3 months and then went to the bottle. He also had his first 2 bottom teeth at 2 months and had a hard time with teething but never bit me or the bottle nipples.
I heard to try the harder nipples because they are harder to bite through. But again never needed to try it so I am not sure if it works or not. Or I agree with the other posters ditch the bottle & try the sippy cups with hard yet soft nipples. Dr. Brown's had a good sippy cup but it is bulky and heavier than other cups.
Try a sippy cup that pours slow.
My son did this too. I was using Avent bottles, and I switched out the nipple with the sippy cup tops. He didn't mind them at all, got used to them really quickly, and couldn't bite through them. Once the top teeth came in, he stopped trying to bite everything in sight.
I haven't experienced this because my babies were/are breastfed, but they do the same thing to human nipples, believe me!
When they start that biting business, I unlatch and say firmly, "no no, hurts mama". If they do it again I end the nursing session. It's a stage and usually a blessedly brief one (generally coincides with teething). If it keeps up, how about deep-sixing the bottle and teaching her to drink from a cup?
Try giving him a sippy cup! Start now and you won't have to worry about "giving up the bottle."
My suggestion is get rid of the bottles its time for sippy cups. Make sure you buy the hard top sippy cups because he will be able to do the same thing w/ the soft tops and the soft top cups make a huge mess they claim they are spill proof but they really aren't. The make a wonderful variety of sippy cups so buy a few different kinds to find the one he likes.
