I go to Matlock OBGYN (Dr. Greve) and delivered my 3rd child at MCA. Angela Walker actually ended up doing my emergency c-section after 12 hours of unproductive labor! She was awesome! I love Matlock OBGYN and my stay at MCA was very comfortable. ALL the staff in labor/delivery, post partum and the NICU were fantastic! Congrats on the baby! :-)
I have a totally different experience at Mansfield. I too delivered my first about 4 1/2 years ago and it was not a good experience. First, the nurses couldn't believe I was unmedicated (I opted for no epidural) so they kept coming in to see the show. Literally, I had a about 4 or 5 extra nurses in there just wanting to see what was going on, ehile i was delivering Afterward I asked my nurse why there were so many nurses in there and she said "because they were bored". Seriously? I thought that was completely inappropriate. Second, the nurses in the nursery ( especially the one in charge) were not very accomadating. I had to wait about 6 hours to hold my son after I delivered him. I had go to into emergency surgery after I had him so that took about an hour, but afterward I wasn't "allowed" to. They kept saying they were too busy to give him a bath and I wasn't allowed to hold him until after he had a bath. Funny I thought they were bored? Then, they kept feeding him after I told them not too because I was wanting to breadtfeed. When my son kept projectile vomitting I asked if maybe it was the formula and if they could change it the head nurse said "no, it's not the formula, it's you". Turns out he was allergic to the formula. I also asked one of my nurses to help me to the shower ( I was very sore and had pain after my surgery) and her response (and I wish I was lying) was " you don't know how to take a shower"?
Sorry to be so negative, but that was the worst experience. That was only about half the stuff. Needless to say I didn't deliver there again. No hospital is perfect. Congrats on your pregnancy!
I delivered at Mansfield Methodist about 4 1/2 years ago. We had a good experience. The thing that I really liked was that they had a photographer take pictures as soon as the baby arrives. I had a c-section, and the photographer was there to get pictures of my little girl getting measured and weighed, etc. They put the pictures to a music on a dvd. It is wonderful. I don't know if they still do that or not. My dr. was Marian Zinnante in Mansfield. She is great.
I have delivered at both hospitals, and while both were great, Mansfield was something of a different class. Every person we came in contact with was absolutely amazing! I see Dr. Erin Westerholm, and she's is also fantastic. She just opened her new office just down the street from the hospital.
I have the same answer as Momof2boys. I don't have personal experience, but I do have a friend who delivered in Mansfield and has a wonderful experience (I don't know who her doctor is). I have been to the Mansfield hospital myself, but not for delivery, and I was very impressed.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
