Hi everyone. I have a question about my daughter, just noticed a few times that she shivers, like a chill went down her spine. She seems normal before and after this happens. She's been a very healthy baby. I don't want to think it's a seizure, should I be concerned? She I call my doctor?
This is going to sound really weird but it's quite common for little ones to "shiver" right before or while they're peeing.
Does it happen during a feeding, when my girl was this little she would shiver when she was eating something she didn't care for. I wouldn't worry about a seizure. My daughter had a febrile seizure when she was around 6 months due to do a fever. You will know right away if she is having a seizure. Its prety obvious!
My children did the same thing when they were peeing. We can't see it since they have a diaper on. But, once and a while I would catch that same 'shiver' if I took their diaper off and they were about to get into the tub. It doesn't sound like anything serious. But of course keep an eye on her incase it could be something else.
My daughter used to do the exact same thing. She is now 15 months old and I haven't seen her do it for quite awhile. I think it is completely normal. I get "shivers" every now and then so I just chalked it up to being the same as what happens to me.

I remember some of my mom friends and I discussing the same thing when our kids were babies. It's a normal thing and nothing to worry about. I remember researching it and while I don't remember the specifics I believe it was related to a type of overflow from the nervous system. There is alot of development going on! Of course you can always take her into the doctor to discuss, especially if it gets "worse."
As my son got older he would sometimes shiver with urination.

If she were having a seizure, there'd be no doubt in your mind as to what was going on. Like the other moms have said, she is very likely peeing, or even just chilly.
My son did this at about the same age. He would clench his teeth and shake, and I too was worried about seizures. He would also clench his fists while doing this. I asked my doctor about it, and she said that it was probably a new trick. Sure enough, when he learned something new, the shuddering stopped. He's 16 months old now, and I haven't seen him do this for at least 6 months. I hope this helps!
I believe this quick 2 second shiver happens quite often after they pee. As a mom of three and a day care provider for 10 years, I see this quite often in infants. But always double check with your daughters doctor if you have concerns.

Babies do this when they pee. Nothing to be worried about; all my kids did it.
