okay, Moms, I'm coming to all of you to ask for advice for my
sons birthday party.
he will be 6 tomorrow and I'd love to do a birthday party for him next weekend
with a few of his little friends from school.
any ideas????
we went bowling last year.
also... really very short on the 'cash' stuff right now as well. So I'd love
ideas for something really cool and fun on a smallish budget.

What can I do next?

Hi G.-

How about a sledding party? I see that you are in the northern metro, there is Thorpe Park in Coon Rapids right off of HWY 10 and 242.

Good Luck

A fun party idea would be to turn your house into a movie theater. You can do face painting (cheap but fun) in designs like lions and tigers etc...and then offer popcorn and other snacks while watching a movie.

You might just want to do something as small as just going and buying or ordering pizza for the kids and buying a cake and ice cream and just having a little themed party at home. You could also have a few games for the kids and go to the dollar store and get prizes there. That is what I did for my Son's first birthday and it turned out great! I know how hard it is when you are tight with money...

I love the sledding idea! Or, if you're looking for another way to let them use up some energy, Adventure Park in Ham Lake does birthday parties a la carte now. That means it's as cheap as $5.50/child (for the admission), and everything else is an add-on. I could see even just letting them play for 2-3 hours...at that age that's a party enough! :) But if you decide to add on cake, pizza, etc., they have those options too.
