it could be the dye my brother is allergic to red dye #40 so it can happen and now Tylenol makes dye free so i would give that a try
I gave my 6 month old generic tylenol after he had his 6 month shots, and he threw it up immediately and whatever else was in his stomach. It made me remember that the SAME THING happened twice after his 4 month shots! So, now I'm starting to connect the dots. I haven't been able to find anything online about babies being allergic to the dye in this puking way, but the only difference b/w the generic and the name brand is that dye! He seems to do fine with the name-brand tylenol when they give it to him at the Drs. This is so weird. Anyone else have the problem? Could it be a dye sensitivity? Or is there such a thing as acetemenophin sensitivity, and we just got lucky with the name brand?

I have 2 sons and 2 nephews who get a migraine and then throw up every time they eat red #40. We have to be careful about reading every label - red, pink, purple, orange, even chocolate and cinnamon flavored things sometimes have red dye. They also have problems with a specific type of plums - potawatamie's make them throw up, too. Good luck!
Your little one may be sensitive to the red dye, but it is also just as possible that he is reacting to the vaccines. If you know about all the toxic ingredients in vaccines, just think about what is being injected into his little body. Consider it as a possibility and do some research about vaccine reactions (from both sides of the debate) before he gets any more shots. Good luck!
If the "red" is followed by a number like "red 40" then it's derived from, yikes…PETROLEUM.

it could definitely be an allergy/sensitivity. it may not be the dye, it could be one of the other "inert" ingredients. although it is most likely the dye - my 7 yr old son has a friend that pukes after any red dye in anything (i.e., cereal, junk food, candy, juice drinks.....) Anyway, I always ponied up for the dye free stuff after my pediatrician warned she could never get the dye stains out and somehow part of it always winds up on clothes rather than in their tummy (even w/out throwing up!) when they're little. good luck.
They now have dye free tylenon products, i have seen it both in the name brand and also generic tylenol... maybe try it and see if it makes a difference.
I'd get him something without the dye and keep that in mind as he gets older. He may stop vomiting, but it may still act his behavior, etc. My son is affected like ADD when he eats certain foods that used to make him vomit. GL!
Try finding generic drops without the dye. I know I've bought them, maybe at RiteAid. You could call around to save time and ask specifically for one that doesn't have red dye. If he has an acetaminophen sensitivity he would have it to all of the products.
Dear D.,
It can be the dye! My oldest son & nephew both had a red 40 "allergy/reaction". If it was kool aid, jello, marachino cherries they would throw it up. RED 40 is BAD & is banned in my home. They can color with natural derivatives why do they choose this junk?!?
Tylenol does make a DYE-FREE version. I know Walmart carries it & if your's does not don't be afraid to ask. Take care, G
Yes, you can I have a dye sensitivity. I actually break out in hives when I have red dye. But, I'm not so sure that a dye sensitivity would make him vomit. And yet I know thar what you observe with the generic versus Tylenol. I'd ask his doctor about it at your next visit but I can't also wonder if your baby needs the pain relief. I never gave my little one Tylenol after the shots and see seemed fine. Maybe try a set of shots without the medicine. Also, if he's been sick and needed pain relief, are there other times when you've given him the generic brand? If so, what was his reaction? Same? Different? My little one taught herself to throw up on demand when she was three months out. There might be other reasons for the vomiting, like stress!
Good luck!
I'm not sure about the dye sensitivity.....but Target has generic acetaminophen that is grape flavored too. My son has hated the cherry flavored stuff from the start but takes the grape flavor well. You may give that a try.....that tylenol can get spendy, I know.
my baby threw up after both his 9 month and 12 month shots, but it actually lasted for a couple of days and didn't seem related to the medicine i gave him. my doctor told me both times it was a virus, unrelated to the shots....maybe something he picked up at the doctor's office? i did wonder if maybe he just felt so sick from the shots that he threw up...
Wow, that is weird. I think my kid did the same thing, too. She threw up after taking generic tylenol when she had a really high fever and I gave it to her to lower her fever. She hadn't had vaccinations recently. I know that either tylenol or any acetamenophin is hard on the body and should only be taken spareingly.
I would like to know what you find out!
