6-Cylinder Nissan Pathfinder or Honda Pilot.

I test drove a Pathfinder the other night and it was an 8-cylinder. I had no idea they came in 8-cylinder so I was like, "Yeah, this is great--lot's of power!"---until I realized it was an 8 and I am concerned about gas because of all the commuting-the-kids I do. Well, it had enough space but would a 6-cylinder have enough power? I am considering the Pathfinder and the Pilot.

But until I do find that V-6 Pathfinder or Pilot, what's your view? Can you pass a vehicle easily on the highway? Can you make it up a hill with ease or does it feel sluggish like the "little engine that could"?

Thanks

I have a Pilot and I love it! It drives smooth like a car, but it has a lot of power. My husband even loves to drive it. I have never had a problem with it feeling sluggish and I drive southern California freeways everyday. It's an awesome car!

I just test drove a Pilot and really liked it. I didn't look at the Pathfinder though. I ended up buying an Acadia. Not sure what exactly you are looking for in an SUV but the Acadia is great too.

I have a Pilot and a friend has the Pathfinder. Her vehicle rides like a truck and mine rides like a car. Much smoother. Also mine has a lot of power, like you are asking about. I love it. I've had it since 2004 and it has LOTS of miles on it and I haven't had one issue with it yet.

I have a Nissan XTerra v-6... and eh, it's okay. It gets crappy gas mileage (~15-17mpg) and is a little sluggish in the "get-up." But, it's paid off and it's hanging in there. I haven't driven either of the vehicles you're asking about, so no opinion on those--except that I love the way the Pilot looks (plus, seating for 8?! Awesome!). At this point in my life (commuter, mom, carpooler, grocery-shopper) I'd go with something that gets the best gas mileage and is comfortable!

One of my friends has a Pathfinder and the other a Pilot.. I like the Pilot MUCH better.. It's soooo much roomier inside, it has more pickup (there both 6 cylinders), it has more features, (or at least hers does) and just looks nicer and safer...

I have the 6-cylinder Pathfinder (actually, this is my 2nd) and I LOVE it! It pulls our boat very nicely, our snowmobiles great and has plenty of power to get us over the pass (I'm in Eastern WA and my sis is in Western WA) and Vantage just fine! I have never had a problem passing someone when I need to, even on a hill.
