I think it's possible, but probably not 3 Britax's. Maybe the thinner ones like the Costco's might.
Is it possible to fit five carseats into a minivan? We have a 2008 Dodge Caravan with seven seats. Will three forward-facing carseats fit across the back row bench? Thanks!
Thanks everyone. I'll look into some of the slimmer carseat options mentioned.
I think it's possible, but probably not 3 Britax's. Maybe the thinner ones like the Costco's might.
The question is also, will all 3 car seats, have the seat belt, in order to install/latch in, the car seats, properly?
Do some measuring and see, if your 3 car seats will fit back there.
We fit three car seats in the back of a cavalier so I would think it should be possible.
I have a Dodge Caravan and yes, 3 seats will fit across the back row if they're not super wide. In reality it depends on the car seats. My van has shoulder seat belts for all 3 positions. I haven't looked to see if there are latches. I do know you don't have to have latches to install car seats.
Go to a fire department and they will help you figure it out. They have car seats that they can put in your van.
I have a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and have 2 Graco Nautilus' in the back. There is maybe 12 inches of space between them. There is no way I could fit a 3rd seat there, not even a booster. I think even the Radian's would be a really tight fit and the middle seat is only a lab belt, so getting them all strapped in correctly would be an issue as well.
Good Luck!
You will probably have to go with three Sunshine Radian car seats for the back row. Even then, I'm not sure if it will work. Good luck!
Make sure the middle car seat is strapped in using a belt, not the LATCH system. Latches aren't meant to be shared, and a safety seat specialist told me that usually the Latches aren't meant for the middle seat...just an FYI ;)
Yes, but you will need radians or coccoros. I have an Odyssey and I can fit 3 in the back. I use a radian, coccoro, and a huge britax frontier.
if you buy Radian carseats (Amazon sells them, as well as other places) then yes, three will fit across the back row bench. They are expensive and heavy but GREAT and SAFE. Also, if you have smart air bags you can put a carseat in the front seat. Smart air bags are the ones that turn off automatically if a carseat is installed in them.
I have seen three Radians in the back seat of MANY minivans, and I have done it in my own minivan (I own 2 of them and borrowed one to see if it would work with 3)
I just wanted to address the response about the smart air bags--smart or not, air bags are not fool proof & can still deploy when there's a car seat there. The only time to place a child in a front seat is if there is no other seating position available. Even then, the seat needs to be pushed as far back as possible. If anyone is having trouble fitting their seats in, please go see a child passenger safety tech to receive some assistance. Many police or fire depts have techs available, we have appointments at Children's memorial hospital, and some community orgs have techs. Please keep kids in the backseat.
