My son is 4 months old. He has never had a cold yet, until this past week. I called the dr. and they told me to give him the "little noses" drops and suction out his nose, and continue giving him the "little colds". Well we have been doing that for about 3-4 days now, and he is still coughing, it sounds kinda bad, and i'm thinking about taking him to the hospital later today, since our pediatrician doesnt seem to EVER do her job. (My fiance asked her about when babies eye color stays permenant, and she told us to google it... she is worthless, any advice on a good one that takes the buckeye health insurance?)

Well since you are so unhappy with your pediatrician, I suggest changing now, before the baby begins to make a relationship with the doc. Also, most babies under 6 months shouldn't really have medicine without seeing the doc, so I would agree when you say your doc is worthless. For sure I would say take him to the hospital and change pediatricians. Your child's life is way too important to settle for mediocre (sp?) care. So anyway, keep us updated. Take care and good luck. As far as a new doc goes......we use Toledo Peds. They are all great and nice and the nurses are as well. They have a few offices around the Toledo area. I am not sure about your insurance, but we have had 3 different kinds of insurance since we've had the kids and Toledo Peds have taken all of them. Dr. Mary Ellen Pizza is our main doc, but they are all great. Hope this helps.

I go to the University of Toledo (was the Medical University of Ohio) Pediatricians - Dr Valarie Stricklen to be specific. My son is also 4 mo. and thank goodness, he has not gotten sick. But he has some issues with his bowel movements and the on-call nurses are great. You can call in a talk to a nurse directly and if they have a question, they'll have a Dr call you back. The one time I was freaking out that I wanted to get in right away b/c of my sons breathing (which turned out to be a normal thing for newborns), I had no probs. Dr. Stricklen told me, "No matter how silly you think you are being, call and ask. That is what we are here for." I would highly recommend them. If you are interested, call them at ###-###-#### to see if they take your insurance. You should NEVER have to 'google' something that your Dr should tell you right away. (And by the way, it is 6mo. for the eye color).

I have used Franklin Park Pediatrics for my son. They are always available for sick visits the same day you call. My son's main doctor is Marianne Black but there are five doctor in the practice and they are all good. I do not know if they take your insurance but I have had several different insurances since my son was born and they have taken them all. Also if the cough persists it may be allergies and if that is the case Dr Sudhir Rao is the best. Please let us know what is going on and hope he gets better soon.
